Shades of Blue With a Pop of Red

Shades of Blue With a Pop of Red Zara navy jacket Gap jeans HM sheer spot top

It was my daughter’s birthday at the weekend so on Saturday we had a party at the bowling alley for her and some school friends (kids with heavy bowling balls…what could possibly go wrong?) which was almost as much fun for the adults as we got a game in too! After I finished work on Sunday morning we went out for a family lunch at a nearby pub that serves the most wonderful food. Eating out requires comfort and a degree of smartness, so choosing what to wear wasn’t too difficult. Jeans, jacket and flat shoes is my go-to casual outfit combination and this navy Zara blazer has proved to be a wardrobe hero: I’ve worn it so many times.  It’s one of those items that I want to last forever.

Navy works well with so many colours but this time I decided to wear shades of blue with a pop of red.

Navy works well with so many colours but this time I decided to wear shades of blue with a pop of red. I love the contrast of cobalt blue and bright red. I’ve had the top for years – it has sheer sleeves so it’s ideal for layering under a jacket…I’m really glad I bought it in black too. The only new part of this outfit is the pale blue loafers which I bought from M&S. Even though a beautiful pair of heels can still make my heart flutter I have to be sensible and  think of the comfort factor! Heels are now reserved for occasions that don’t require much walking.

Do you have an outfit combination that you go back to over and over? Let me know in the comments or drop me a line on TwitterInstagram or Facebook!

  13. There is enough fun and elegance to “compensate” high heels. I am a fan of high heels too. A big fan, but lately I have worn a couple of outfits which actually look better with flats. This is new to me. Your outfit with those beautiful loafers need no heels.
