Match Made in Seven: Midsummer's Eve

Welcome to the monthly edition of Match Made in Seven! We are an international group of fashion bloggers who meet once a month. One of us chooses a theme in turn, and that can be anything. A book, music, a color, a movie –  and then we style an outfit based on that theme. This month Bettye chose the theme of Midsummer’s Eve!

For me, yellow is the colour of Summer. It reminds me of buttercups, bumble bees and sunshine. It’s such a cheerful colour that always makes me feel happier when I wear it. I previously featured this dress almost two years ago when I was visiting my Dad in France. We go every Summer for a week or so, and I’m really looking forward to going back soon 🙂

At first I thought of a pink tulle maxi skirt or a colourful floral print dress, but I don’t have a tulle skirt (shocking, I know)

When Bettye told us her choice of theme I was a little nonplussed. Not because I didn’t have anything appropriate (that would be impossible with the amount of clothes I have!). It was more that I was spoilt for choice I suppose. A theme that you can interpret many different ways is sometimes harder than a more specific one. At first I thought of a pink tulle maxi skirt or a colourful floral print dress, but I don’t have a tulle skirt (shocking, I know). I didn’t feel in the mood for florals, but looking through my wardrobe I was naturally drawn to sunny yellow.

I was going to play it safe and wear the same gold wedge espadrilles and straw crab motif bag as I did when I wore this dress before. But then Isobel spotted these green sandals and suggested I try them instead. She then disappeared into “Blog HQ” (aka the disaster room) and came out with the pineapple bag. At first I said it was too much yellow, but then I looked again and really liked it. I’d have to say she gets it from me 😉

The sunglasses are not really very practical, but they add a little fun to the outfit. And if you’re basking in the sun and want to go to sleep you can just cover the lenses with the daisies and drift off…

What does Midsummer’s Eve make you think of? Don’t forget to check out what the other Match Made in Seven ladies are wearing…links at the bottom of the post 🙂

Absolutely LOVE this outfit, Emma! I’m a HUGE fan of yellow and my favourite colour is green so I would totally want to wear this entire outfit (although the heels would kill my feet lol). You look absolutely fabulous. I really do love how you kept the whole outfit yellow and green. Your daughter really does have a good sense of style (and fun – just like you, those glasses are brilliant!!)

Stunning dress! Cute bag too. Love the shoes you chose to go with the dress.

  9. Isobel definitely has an eye for something! Because these accessories are perfect with the gorgeous yellow dress. I am wanting your green wedges and that pineapple bag is super fun! But maybe not as fun as the sunglasses. This whole outfit just makes me smile. Well done.
