Poolside Glamour With Miss Tunica, Mondello leopard print tunic

My holiday wardrobe was in desperate need of a refresh for my recent trip to Abu Dhabi. I’ve been taking the same old sarongs and beach dresses on beach holidays for years. As luck would have it I was invited to choose one of the fabulous cover ups from Miss Tunica just in the nick of time. There are so many stunning designs that I had a really difficult time picking one! I’m such a fan of leopard print though – it goes with everything, right?

Adding a little poolside glamour with Miss Tunica made me feel confident and put together…despite the sweltering heat.

I love the maxi length and flowing style of the Mondello tunic; when I manage to prise myself off my sunlounger to go to the bar or the toilet I prefer to cover up. I know it’s perfectly acceptable to walk around in just a bikini but I always throw on a dress or a sarong – I wouldn’t walk around in my underwear so it doesn’t feel right to me not to put on another layer. Maybe I’m just a prude! But then who wouldn’t want to wear this gorgeous tunic? Adding a little poolside glamour with Miss Tunica made me feel confident and put together…despite the sweltering heat.

The fabric is really soft and feels lovely against the skin. Handcrafted in India, the V neck is decorated with metallic beads. Miss Tunica was “inspired by the concept of promoting a woman’s creativity, individuality and personal style – on and beyond the beach”. The long, glamourous style makes going from beach to bar effortless.

A simple sheath dress can be dressed up or down so easily, making it a holiday wardrobe hero.

As the fabric is quite sheer, Miss Tunica also have a range of slip dresses in various colours to wear underneath. I chose a long black one and I can honestly say it was one of the most useful pieces of clothing I packed. A simple sheath dress can be dressed up or down so easily, making it a holiday wardrobe hero. The fit is very flattering as it hugs in all the right places without feeling clingy. The fabric quality is fantastic and retains its shape all day. I can see myself wearing this with a denim jacket and a statement necklace. Having really versatile pieces is key when you want to pack light (I’m still practising on that one!).

Miss Tunica also sent me this gorgeous ring to complete the look as a lovely surprise. I wore it lots on holiday as it goes with so many outfits. I can’t wait for my next beach holiday so I can wear this fabulous outfit again!

How do you prefer to dress by the pool/at the beach? Do you like to add a bit of poolside glamour to your holiday wardrobe?

Seafolly Jumpsuit and Hessian Crossbody Pom Pom Bag

With the kids off school for the long summer break many of us are preparing to jet off on holiday somewhere warm and sunny. The UK summer seems to have taken a holiday itself lately, the weather has been very disappointing to say the least! I’ve already had a week in Brittany at my dad’s (where I wore my sunshine yellow dress). Next week we’re heading off to Switzerland for a few days to stay with friends. Although I passed through Swtzerland in the car many years ago, I’ve never stayed there before. The weather is forecast to be mostly hot and sunny – 29c one day! I’m looking forward to spending time relaxing by Lake Zug.

I have a feeling this Seafolly jumpsuit and hessian crossbody pom pom bag are going to be my new holiday wardrobe heroes.

Although it’s not a beach holiday, I still want to enjoy being in the sunshine and swimming in the lake. I also need to travel light so I’m planning my outfits very carefully. Minimal packing isn’t my strong point so I need a few well-chosen versatile clothes. I have a feeling this Seafolly jumpsuit and hessian crossbody pom pom bag are going to be my new holiday wardrobe heroes.

It would be so easy to throw this jumpsuit on over a bikini to head straight to the bar….just add jewellery and you’re ready for cocktails!

When packing for a holiday I usually take a couple of maxi dresses to throw on over a bikini but this Seafolly jumpsuit from Simply Beach is a game changer. It’s light, very easy to get on and off (no bathroom dramas!) and feels as comfortable as wearing pajamas. The halterneck ties up on one side so you can adjust it to suit. The fabric is really soft, and although it’s a loose fit, the elasticated waist adds definition. It has pockets too! Simply Beach have a fantastic range of swimwear, beachwear and jewellery, including big brand names.

A crossbody bag is a holiday essential for me. This natural hessian bag goes with pretty much everything and the pom poms add a little fun. The strap is detachable so it can be worn as a clutch. It’s a good size, big enough to hold everything I need when out sightseeing. I kept the rest of my accessories neutral with gold espadrilles and a striped wide brim floppy hat. The long gold tassel necklace and lapis lazulite bracelet finish off this simple but stylish beach look. Simply Beach have a fantastic range of swimwear, beachwear and jewellery, including big brand names. You’ll find a fabulous range of playsuits and jumpsuits in a variety of styles. There’s a sale on at the moment too so it’s worth popping over for a browse if you need some new holiday clothes.

What are your holiday essentials? Are you a fan of jumpsuits? Let me know in the comments 🙂

Red Herring tribal print trousers Barbados Holiday Wardrobe

I’ve never been one to travel light but going to the same place more than once certainly helps to avoid over packing too much. Over half term we went to Barbados, a place that is very special to us as we got married there, in fact this was my fifth trip there (and the husband’s 15th!) so I knew what to expect weather wise…hot hot hot! The temperature doesn’t fluctuate much throughout the year so light and loose clothing, flat shoes and beach wear is basically all you need. I tend to take the same things with me on every beach holiday, and while that’s practical and thrifty, I’d got to the point where I just needed to add a few new items to my holiday wardrobe to freshen it up without breaking the bank. I was browsing the Debenhams website for bikinis when I saw these tribal print trousers on sale and thought they’d make a nice alternative to skirts. The pattern is perfect for holidays and the fabric is soft and light, they are so comfortable. The flat nude sandals go with everything so they are holiday wardrobe essentials. Barbados is very laid back so I don’t bother with heels – flats are much more practical, especially after a few rum punches!

White M&S lace crinkle skirt Barbados holiday wardrobe

This cream lace skirt and beaded vest is one of my favourite holiday outfits; the M&S skirt is made from a crinkle effect fabric so it travels well, and the vest is very light and stretchy. Again I wore my nude flat sandals and leather cream bag, which is also a holiday staple as it’s both roomy and goes with everything.

Red beach dress and straw hat Barbados Holiday Wardrobe

Simple maxi dresses are great to throw on over a bikini to take you from beach to bar if you don’t have time to get changed. I just added a pair of drop earrings and I was good to go and catch the sunset at the beach bar. I’m never without my straw hat during the day to keep the sun off my face and a pair of big shades to protect my eyes.

Marks and Spencer Cote d'Azur sundress

This cotton sun dress was a real bargain; I bought it at an M&S outlet for about £5 a few months ago. It has a Côte d’Azur boat theme print which is perfect for holidays. As we were doing a lot of walking that day, which included a trip to the beach, I wore my red and white stripe Fitflops. I love Fitflops because I’m very flat footed and the thick, moulded sole makes walking much more comfortable. This photo was taken on the lookout point at Welchman Hall Gully – the exact spot where we got married back in 2010. It was lovely to go back there again.

Freya melon print bikini Barbados Holiday Wardrobe

One of the new items of swimwear I bought from Debenhams was this watermelon print bikini by Freya. I was instantly drawn to the tropical print, which gave my husband the perfect opportunity to say “Nice melons!” on more than one occasion! Men eh?!

Floozie frill bikini Barbados Holiday Wardrobe

This frill bikini is one I’ve had for a while now but I love the frill detail, which makes it feel less skimpy. It’s by Floozie Frost French – a range stocked by Debenhams, who have a fabulous range of swimwear for curvy ladies. I don’t mind admitting that I had serious doubts about posting a bikini photo (especially after relaxing the carbs intake the moment the plane took off!) but after seeing Catherine of Not Dressed As Lamb post some beautiful holiday photos I was emboldened to just go for it. It’ll be quite a while before I get to spend a week basically living in a bikini again so I may as well savour the memory!

Thanks for reading, I hope you have a lovely day!
