Colour blocking red and pink with Lotus shoes and bag Asos pink ruffle jumper

In contrast to last week’s mostly black and white link up outfit, today I’m colour blocking red and pink with my new Lotus shoes and bag. Red and pink is one of those colour combinations that has been in and out of fashion over the years. I remember a time when I wouldn’t have dreamed of putting the two together…but now that’s just another fashion “rule” I’m only to happy to break.

When I spotted these fuchsia multi wedges and matching bag from Lotus I knew they would work with so many outfits…

Pink seems to be everywhere at the moment, and it’s popularity has crept up on me stealthily and now I’m firmly in its grip. Not that I mind one bit, especially when I can pair it with my all time favourite colour red. When I spotted these fuchsia multi wedges and matching bag from Lotus I knew they would work with so many outfits in my wardrobe. The beauty of them is the different hues of fuchsia, blush pink, orange and red they combine. I love the wide multi-coloured ankle strap on the sandals, which unfortunately is covered by my trousers in the full length photos, but I’ve included a close up further down. I’ve had my eye on some red culottes for a while now and I think they would be perfect for these shoes.

The shoes and bag would be ideal if you’re going to a wedding because you could easily fit all of your essentials in the bag, while the medium height wedges are very comfortable.

The shoes and bag are very well made; they look and feel much more expensive than they are. The bag is a really good size – not too big, not too small. Unlike a lot of bags this style which are flat, it has depth to it. Plus you can wear it with the chain strap or tuck it inside and wear it as a clutch. These sandals and bag would be ideal if you’re going to a wedding because you could easily fit all of your essentials in the bag, while the medium height wedges are very comfortable. (They are also available in a blue colourway if pink isn’t your thing.) I’ve made the mistake of wearing “limo shoes” to a wedding and spent most of the day wobbling on uneven grass and damaging the heels on churchyard gravel! It’s a good workout for the calf muscles, but not one I’d recommend, especially after a glass of fizz!

I have to confess that I wasn’t convinced when I first tried the top on, in fact I almost sent it back.

This pink ruffle jumper is a fantastic transitional piece. Combining the hue of the moment with a feminine frill, it’s thick enough to wear on cooler days, so you can dress for Spring even if the weather isn’t co-operating. I have to confess that I wasn’t convinced when I first tried the top on, in fact I almost sent it back. I think it’s the slightly cropped and loose hemline that made me doubt it. I usually prefer a more fitted sweater, especially with tailored trousers, but the shoes and bag inspired me to give it another try. Even my husband says he likes it, so that means it’s a keeper.

I thought a hat would be too much with the pink ruffles but I was surprised at how well it finishes off the outfit.

The wide brim hat was a last minute addition to the outfit. I thought a hat would be too much with the pink ruffles but I was surprised at how well it finishes off the outfit. I’ve been having a little hat-buying spree on eBay and this is the latest addition to my collection. It’s originally from Zara – my favourite high street shop for hats.

It's been way too hot for tights but I'm in desperate need of a tan and can't quite bring myself to go for skirts and bare legs in March! So I compromised and went for trousers and sandals instead. Keeping the outfit entirely in red and navy and adding a blazer smartens up the look for the office. I don't want to tempt fate, but maybe it's time to dig out the summer clothes from the loft. Now, where's that fake tan…..
