How We Style Seven Shades of Green + #StylishMonday Link Up

We’re back with the second #StylishMonday link up, and as it’s officially Spring we’re sharing how we style seven shades of green! It’s obviously a popular colour because you may remember the Style Not Age theme for last month was also green. Luckily I have plenty to choose from in my wardrobe so it was easy for me to choose two different outfits.

I’d already been planning on putting together a green and orange outfit when the two green themes came about. Although I ended up rushing this one a bit, I managed to vaguely achieve the look I’d had in mind. I have a fabulous pair of green patterned boots that I wanted to wear but they just didn’t work with the trousers, so I opted for leopard print shoes instead. A plain neutral would have been a bit uninteresting, and leopard print is a neutral, right? ūüėČ

The orange in the bird print makes it perfect for teaming with accessories in shades of apricot, terracotta and ginger.

I’ve also worn this green coat with red accessories; it’s a shade that works just as well with contrasting bright hues as it does with neutrals. It was a great eBay bargain, costing around ¬£20. I added a second, darker shade of green with this charming Laura Ashley blouse. The orange in the bird print makes it perfect for teaming with accessories in shades of apricot, terracotta and ginger. Without realising, I picked out the same bag and sunglasses that I wore with it previously. Well if it ain’t broke…

I’ve had these trousers absolutely ages, and truth be told, I’m not overly keen on them, which is why I don’t wear them very often. They’re quite thin so better suited to the Summer. The lack of pockets in trousers always bothers me, even if it means a more flattering fit. Maybe I just need to be more creative with them.

I love this bird print, it reminds me of the Royal Crown Derby paperweight ornaments. I’m instantly drawn to anything with a nature motif ūüôā

I love summertime and never want it to end, but as soon as the kids break up for the holidays I know it’ll be over in the blink of an eye.¬†With this in mind I’m keeping an eye on the A/W trends and thinking of ways to transition my wardrobe.¬†Opting for rich tones inspired by nature reflects the changing of the season and heralds¬†a new phase in the sartorial calendar.

The enchanted birdies blouse and navy paperbag waist trousers are part of the Woodblock Floral end-of-summer range of smart casual daywear at Laura Ashley.

The key to transitional¬†dressing is wearing¬†light fabrics that can be layered. This blouse is a lovely lightweight cotton¬†while providing plenty of coverage. I adore the exquisite bird print and mix of colours, which make it really versatile. It would look great with flared dark wash jeans and platform sandals for a 70s vibe – just add a wide brim floppy hat and a sleeveless cardigan as a topper when the temperature dips. It’s also perfect for pairing with a pencil skirt or trousers for the office. For cooler weather and air conditioned offices a navy jacket would add an extra layer and pull the look together for a smarter option.¬†The¬†enchanted birdies blouse¬†and¬†navy paperbag waist trousers¬†are part of the Woodblock Floral end-of-summer¬†range of smart casual daywear at Laura Ashley.

Having a pair of trousers in classic navy that can be dressed up or down is a real wardrobe hero.

These trousers are so soft and feel lovely on. Plus they have¬†deep pockets, which is always a bonus for me! What makes these trousers so comfortable is the loose cut and high waist, which has an elasticated section at the back. The tie belt can be adjusted – handy¬†if you’ve had a big lunch! Of course, bag and shoes don’t have to match – you could mix it up with any combination of the accent colours, or simply opt for neutrals for a pared down look.

The ankle length hem is ideal for¬†showing off your shoes so I chose a pair of orange patent sandals. I paired them with a bright orange bag to match. The burnt orange accents give a nod to autumnal hues, but the mix of colours in the print gives you plenty of options for choosing accessories. I’ve picked¬†out several of the colours in¬†my jewellery with¬†a carnelian bracelet, malachite ring and turquoise earrings.

The enchanted birdies blouse is so striking and unusual that I get compliments whenever I wear it. Best of all is that I can wear it all year round with a few seasonal styling tweaks!

How do you transition from Summer to Autumn?¬†Do you look forward to the new season collections in the shops? It’s link up day so scroll down to share what you’ve been wearing!
