Happy Tuesday! I hope your week got off to a good start 🙂 Welcome to the 100th Style With a Smile link up! As this is a milestone link up it seems quite fitting that it’s a special one. The last seven days have been pretty hectic, but in a good way. As I mentioned in Sunday’s post, I’ve been to London twice. On Wednesday I travelled down to the Bias Cut’s pop up shop, where owner Jacynth launched her own collection of cashmere sweaters.

I can never come away from one of Jacynth’s pop up shops empty-handed…show me fabulous clothes and I simply can’t resist!

I’ve been a big fan of the Bias Cut’s ethos and Jacynth’s mission to end ageism in the fashion industry for several years. I was even lucky enough to model the A/W collection for the website a couple of months ago. Jacynth carefully curates the pieces and only selects the most flattering designs made to high ethical standards. I can never come away from one of Jacynth’s pop up shops empty-handed…show me fabulous clothes and I simply can’t resist!

On this occasion I treated myself to something I’d had my eye on since I first saw it online. This gorgeous Pom bugs jacket wasn’t in stock when I modelled some of the A/W collection, but when I saw it on Shirley I was all heart eye emojis! Luckily for me there was one in my size so it was meant to be! I adore the bug embellishments and little tassels. What you can’t see (because I forgot to get a photo of it) is the beautiful lining. I just love everything about this jacket! Sadly it’s now sold out but there are other equally fabulous jackets still available (like this one that I adore!).

My bargain blouse

I teamed my lovely new Pom bugs jacket with skinny glitter jeans and a gorgeous Hawes & Curtis blouse that I found in a charity shop. It must have been my lucky day because I found three of the same design in different prints in my size. The blouses fit perfectly, and best of all…they only cost £3.75 each! What a find! They are fitted at the waist and have a little stretch in the fabric so they’re really comfortable. I’m obsessed with pussy bows at the moment too!

A surprise blogger meet up!

And look who I bumped into at the pop up…Jacqui, Anna and Valerie! It was such a lovely surprise to finally meet up with them after being friends online for so long 🙂 Meeting up with other bloggers is so much fun…I need to do it more often! Jacqui was with her lovely goddaughter Esther who takes her blog photos, and she kindly took some group shots of us…thank you Esther 🙂

Blue Biker Jacket and Skinny Glitter Jeans

Just when I thought Spring was on its way we get this Siberian blast and the temperature has dropped to freezing. It had just started to snow when I set off for work early this morning! The weather warmed up a little bit briefly last week – enough for me to wear a jacket rather than a big coat. I got to wear this bright blue jacket that I bought in the January sale from Mango for the first time.

I have a thing for these stretchy, brightly-coloured biker jackets. It took me all of my will power not to order it in hot pink too. But I reasoned as I already have a pink jacket I’d limit myself to just the blue. Mango and River Island always have a great selection of suedette biker jackets in a multitude of colours. I also spotted some in New Look last week, so I may yet add another one to my collection 😉

Dressing for the current weather conditions, I teamed this blue biker jacket and skinny glitter jeans with wedge boots for a warm and streamlined look.

This jacket is a little shorter and fits a bit tighter than my khaki one from River Island, but it’s fine with a lightweight fitted jumper underneath. Come the Summer, I can wear it with a pencil skirt and heels, or even a flared midi skirt. Right now though that seems like a long way off! Dressing for the current weather conditions, I teamed this blue biker jacket and skinny glitter jeans with wedge boots for a warm and streamlined look.

At the time I had just started to experiment with making jewellery, and I found Nikki’s success story very inspirational.

If I wanted to add another layer for extra warmth I’d wear a cape over it. I like to find ways to get the maximum amount of wear from my clothes. Because the jacket’s quite a snug fit it means the sleeves don’t quite cover my wrists, which is perfect for showing off my new bracelet from Lola Rose. I have long been a fan of the brand, in fact I remember reading about its founder Nikki Gewirtz when the company was in its infancy. At the time I had just started to experiment with making jewellery, and I found Nikki’s success story very inspirational. In fact it’s fair to say that it sparked a love of chunky, semi-precious jewellery in me.

This bracelet is now sold out but there are many, many more to choose from, as well as necklaces, rings and earrings. The bracelets range in price from £25 upwards, and would make a lovely gift for Mother’s Day or a birthday. Every piece comes beautifully packaged – my bracelet arrived in a blush pink padded pouch with stud fastening. The chunky gemstone beads are threaded on a cord, with an adjustable Chinese knot – if you’ve ever struggled to do up lobster clasps on bracelets you’ll know what a bonus this is!

My jeans were also a Mango January sale bargain, and this is their second appearance on the blog already (last time I wore them with the gold sparkly jumper) . I added my much-loved Angel Jackson bag for a bit more colour (previously seen on the blog here and here). I love how the flashes of red and yellow compliment the bright blue jacket.

Are you a fan of biker jackets? If you could have one in any colour what would it be? I’m thinking maybe emerald green or purple 😉

Gold Sparkly Jumper and Glitter Jeans

Just because the festive season is over it doesn’t mean we have to pack away the sparkly clothes does it? Any time of year is good for glitter and sequins in my opinion. It doesn’t have to be full-on bling though. Sometimes a subtle shimmer is enough. With that in mind, I bought this gold sparkly jumper and glitter jeans in the sales recently.

The elusive M&S sales order

The jumper had something of an epic journey. You see, I ordered it on Boxing Day from Marks and Spencer, as well as a few other things, including an identical jumper for my mum. I chose click and collect from her local store so we could pick them up while I was staying for a few days. Unfortunately the order wasn’t there on the day I’d selected. In fact it didn’t even get despatched until January 3rd, by which time I was back home in Cheshire.

In the meantime, I’d tried emailing and tweeting M&S to change the collection point to my local store, but was told they couldn’t amend the order. Instead I would either have to get a family member to pick it up for me (140 miles away) or let it go back to the depot and wait for a refund. As a last resort I chatted online to M&S and was told I could get the parcel re-routed once it had arrived at the original destination. But when I got the confirmation email saying it had arrived and called the store, it was a case of “computer says no”.

And so finally, after a cross-country detour, I got my M&S sale order last week. Thankfully, it was worth waiting for.

Sensing my frustration the assistant on the phone tried desperately to get hold of the manager, and eventually a very helpful lady spoke to me and said she’d split the order, leave my mum’s jumper in store for her to collect and post mine directly to my house. And so, finally, after a cross-country detour, I got my M&S sale order last week. Thankfully, it was worth waiting for. Good customer service prevailed…eventually!

Gold Sparkly Jumper and Glitter Jeans

I’d never bought jeans from Mango before, thinking they might run small like Zara, but amazingly they fit, even after the Christmas indulgences.

The glitter jeans are also a sales purchase, and took almost as long to arrive as the jumper; Mango always leave my house number off my orders, but the delivery driver knows me by now! I’d never bought jeans from Mango before, thinking they might run small like Zara, but amazingly they fit, even after the Christmas indulgences. I kept the colour palette simple by sticking to two colours, but added the leopard print scarf to break it up.

You may recognise the bag – it’s the smaller version of the Jennifer Hamley Model KT bag I’ve featured before herehere and here. It’s actually a slight factory second (as the aubergine and salamander Model KTs are) but you really can’t tell. When Jennifer contacted me last year with the offer of buying one at a bargain price I couldn’t resist. This was the last leather handbag I bought and will remain the last, because it’s vegan leather only for me from now on. As finales go it can’t be topped because the quality is amazing.

Do you save glitter and sequins for special occasions or do you like to wear them in everyday outfits?
