How We Style Seven Shades of Green + #StylishMonday Link Up

We’re back with the second #StylishMonday link up, and as it’s officially Spring we’re sharing how we style seven shades of green! It’s obviously a popular colour because you may remember the Style Not Age theme for last month was also green. Luckily I have plenty to choose from in my wardrobe so it was easy for me to choose two different outfits.

I’d already been planning on putting together a green and orange outfit when the two green themes came about. Although I ended up rushing this one a bit, I managed to vaguely achieve the look I’d had in mind. I have a fabulous pair of green patterned boots that I wanted to wear but they just didn’t work with the trousers, so I opted for leopard print shoes instead. A plain neutral would have been a bit uninteresting, and leopard print is a neutral, right? 😉

The orange in the bird print makes it perfect for teaming with accessories in shades of apricot, terracotta and ginger.

I’ve also worn this green coat with red accessories; it’s a shade that works just as well with contrasting bright hues as it does with neutrals. It was a great eBay bargain, costing around £20. I added a second, darker shade of green with this charming Laura Ashley blouse. The orange in the bird print makes it perfect for teaming with accessories in shades of apricot, terracotta and ginger. Without realising, I picked out the same bag and sunglasses that I wore with it previously. Well if it ain’t broke…

I’ve had these trousers absolutely ages, and truth be told, I’m not overly keen on them, which is why I don’t wear them very often. They’re quite thin so better suited to the Summer. The lack of pockets in trousers always bothers me, even if it means a more flattering fit. Maybe I just need to be more creative with them.

I love this bird print, it reminds me of the Royal Crown Derby paperweight ornaments. I’m instantly drawn to anything with a nature motif 🙂

Bright green coat with red accessories Per Una green coat, Zara multiway bag

Until recently, I couldn’t have worn a bright green coat with red accessories. This colour combination just seemed too Christmassy, which in my mind was bad enough at Christmas. But wearing it just after Christmas was unthinkable. You might be wondering then what brought about this change of heart…it had to be another blogger of course! When I saw Sharon of Best Before End Date rocking a green coat with red boots and tassel earrings it was a game changer.

It’s exactly the shade of green I wanted, and as it’s not too heavy I can wear it in Spring when I’ll team it with pastel shades.

I love bright green – not only is it a great colour for redheads, but it seems to have a calming, balancing effect on my mood. At this time of year I think it’s important to wear colour because the days are so dull and dreary. Setting my sights on adding a green coat to my collection I started browsing eBay, and found this one from M&S for about £20. It’s exactly the shade of green I wanted, and as it’s not too heavy I can wear it in Spring when I’ll team it with pastel shades.

As red is my favourite colour I had plenty of accessories to style the coat with. The Zara multiway bag has proved to be so useful – as a crossbody, belt bag and as a clutch. The coat is collarless so I picked out a fun scarf that my stepmother gave to me several years ago. I added the red hat out of necessity as much as for style because it was raining. A couple of beaded bracelets, a red stone ring and my red heart tassel earrings (from the-Bias-Cut.com) finished off the look.

Do you like this colour combination? Would you wear green and red together?
