Be honest: would you be brave enough to let your partner choose your outfit? Men and women often have very different ideas about what looks good don’t they? And of course it’s not just about looking good (which is subjective), you have to feel good in an outfit too, right? My outfits are sometimes met with an arched eyebrow and a muttered “blimey!” when it’s time to take blog photos. But I usually just brush it off and wear it anyway, I dress for me after all.

It’s not easy getting a man to scroll through hundreds of items; their approach to shopping is generally to get it over and done with as quickly as possible.

With that in mind, when Quiz Clothing invited me to take part in a “My Partner Styled Me” challenge I was genuinely curious as to what Pete would choose (and slightly apprehensive if I’m honest!). It’s not easy getting a man to scroll through hundreds of items; their approach to shopping is generally to get it over and done with as quickly as possible. So sitting down to look at all the options and maintaining focus was a bit like getting Isobel to do her maths homework!

I had to lay down a few guidelines (which apparently defeated the whole object of the challenge, but never mind!), such as nothing too short, no ridiculously high heels, and please bear in mind that it’s still February! As this is an outfit for a Valentine’s Day night out/date night, Pete initially picked out a few party dresses that he liked. But then he decided it’d make more sense to choose an outfit I’d get more wear from, so he opted for a jumpsuit instead.

He first selected a belted batwing jumpsuit, but stock was running low, so he chose this black high neck one as an alternative. I honestly couldn’t be happier with it; it’s comfortable thanks to the stretch fabric, and the length is just right. I ordered a size 10, and it is quite snug. It doesn’t have a zip so the only way on is over the hips, which is a bit of a squeeze, but once it’s on it’s all good. Just something to bear in mind for bathroom visits!

I was so pleased he chose these closed toe shoes – and not only because it meant I didn’t have to paint my toe nails!

So having settled on the main item, Pete then had to select accessories. Again, I had to issue a couple of guidlines: no thin strappy sandals that will cut into my bunions, and please don’t mix rose gold with silver. I know, I’m a harsh taskmaster. He loves it really 😉 By this time the cricket on TV was proving to be far more interesting so we had to move quickly. Quiz Black Satin Ankle Strap Court Shoes

The soft mesh is kind to my knobbly toes, while the diamante toecaps really stand out against the black. The heels are not too high, and the ankle straps keep them securely on my feet. I love that the ankle straps are also covered in diamante as plain black ones can have the effect of making legs look shorter. It means I can wear these shoes with a skirt or a dress without looking stumpy!

There were plenty of black and silver bag options, but I think this one matches the shoes the best. You can tuck the chain handle inside and use it as a clutch or wear it on the shoulder as I have. A classic pair of silver diamante earrings finished off the look. I reckon the boy did good! What do you think?

Do you like what Pete chose? Would you trust your partner to pick an outfit for you?
