Anyone doubting the power of colour therapy really should wear orange because I don’t think it’s possible to escape its uplifting quality. I can honestly say, hand on heart, that it makes me feel more optimistic, energetic, motivated and cheerful. And I think it has that effect on people I encounter too. Yes, life is better in orange!
A case in point; I photographed this outfit yesterday morning, and because I felt great in it I kept in on all day. I went to meet Isobel for coffee after school and stopped off at the post office on the way. I was very tempted to wear the headband, which was a Mother’s Day gift from Isobel. However, teenagers are easily embarrassed by their parents so I took it off!
A lady outside a shop said she loved my outfit, as did the post office clerk. Then on the way back a man said I “looked amazing”, which immediately made me smile. A few paces later a very stylish man said “love your look!” as he passed. By the time I got to the coffee shop I was smiling – not because it had stroked my ego, but because my outfit had prompted an interaction with these strangers.
And that’s why I love to dress in what some would regard as a flamboyant style; it’s a conversation starter. If I feel happy with what I’m wearing, then I think that’s projected and others pick up on it. It might seem frivolous to some, but to me, clothes can be an outward expression of joy, and if you can share that with others then life really is better in orange!
