After making her first appearance on the blog back in January Isobel has been keen to make it a regular feature. In my previous post we both wore black lace: a skirt for me and a top for Isobel, but I’ve been promising to get us matching outfits. So when I picked up a gingham dress for her in Sainsbury’s reduced from £11 to £3.60 I knew it’d be a good opportunity to find a similar one for myself. Gingham has been everywhere over the Summer so I was hoping I’d pick one up in the dying days of the sales.
While there were plenty of gingham options still left in the sales, finding a similar dress in my size was more difficult than I’d anticipated. Luckily I tracked one down at PrettyLittleThing for less than £10. Although it’s shorter than I’d like it works with thick tights, and I could also wear it over jeans. As it’s a loose fit I added a belt to cinch in the waist so it didn’t look shapeless. Isobel copied me with the belt from her school pinafore dress 🙂
The material is quite thin so I plan on wearing a vest underneath when it gets cooler. While wearing our matching gingham dresses and boots we added our own little flourishes with accessories. The headband was mine, but along with several perfumes and a few handbags, it now belongs to Isobel. She’s only eight…goodness knows what she’ll be like when she’s a teenager!
I felt the black and white outfit needed just a little bit of colour, so I added the red bucket bag. After I put the outfit together I thought the hat would give it a little boho vibe. Sometimes you just need a hat to add balance to an outfit. The deep V of the dress required a necklace, but nothing too busy. I chose my elegant Eternal Collection Akoya pearl and cubic zirconia necklace (first seen here) to mirror the colour scheme. Simple pearl drop earrings and a ribbon and pearl cuff completes the look.

Emma, what a pleasant surprise to see myself featured here this morning! I am so flattered. Thank you so very much! So gingham is totally my jam! And I love how you have styled it for fall. I have had my eye on some cute gingham dresses but kept thinking I should wait until spring to order one. But maybe I have changed my mind now that I see how perfectly you have transitioned the print into fall. Thanks for the inspiration!
