Updating your home decor according to the season is a great way to breathe new life into your living space. At this time of year I like to throw the patio doors open and let the outside in; I want to enjoy the warm weather and abundant greenery of the garden. New wall art and a few bright accessories can also be great for a budget-friendly living room refresh for Summer.
When Poster Store asked me if I’d like some new prints for a seasonal update I thought it was the perfect opportunity to give the living room a mini makeover. I’ve switched the autumnal prints (featured in this post) for tropical deep green hues. Hung in the dark oak frames, they really add a sense of the outdoors to the room, especially when placed around house plants. Pete jokes that I’m a plant hoarder because I have so many aloe veras, but they grow so rapidly and I can’t throw them away! The purple plant below was a gift from my lovely friend; I’ve no idea what it is but the colour is beautiful.
Bit by bit, I’ve been adding leopards and cheetahs to the room (if I do it gradually maybe no-one else will notice!). When the child paraphernalia has been expunged from the room I may just get that giant leopard ornament I so badly want! For now though, I’m satisfying my big cat cravings with smaller trinkets. I bought the planter in Matalan but I can’t see the exact same one on the website now. However, there’s a similar one in white and gold that’s on sale for only £3.50! He – or she – seems to approve of the new tropical leaf print! The vase (which I’m using as a planter) is also from Matalan.

I’ve been slowly trying to remove toys from the living room (there are so many!) now that Isobel is a teenager; that’s an ongoing process, but little by little I’m decluttering. While I was cleaning out a cupboard I found two cheetah print cushion covers that I bought ages ago. I’d been meaning to buy the inserts for them but forgot. Well, hanging the new prints got me started on a room makeover mission so I promptly ordered some and I love my new cushions! They compliment the big leopard print that I ordered in my last batch of wall art from Poster Store. You can never have too much animal print in my opinion!
Disclaimer: I was gifted the prints and frames in return for a review. All words and opinions are my own and are completely honest.
Your prints are beautiful and I love these planters.
