Blue Waistcoat With Patterned Trousers + Style With a Smile Link Up

October 1, 2025

I bought this blue waistcoat back in early summer, knowing it would sell out quickly, which it did. The big gold buttons were the detail that caught my eye. I discovered soon afterwards that they’re not actually buttons, just decorations. They waistcoat doesn’t open, and there’s no side zip. With that in mind, I’m more reluctant to wear it to work, just in case I get too hot and end up in an ungainly tangle trying to take it off! Having press studs would have made much more sense. That said, I still love the overall look of it.

For its debut appearance, I’ve teamed the blue waistcoat with patterned trousers from a suit

I’ve always liked waistcoats, mainly thanks to their versatility and the ability to streamline an outfit. My favourite way to wear them is with a pussy bow blouse or statement sleeves (or both). But they also elevate a simple jeans and T-shirt combination. For its debut appearance, I’ve teamed the blue waistcoat with patterned trousers from a suit. I was tempted to switch the T-shirt for a frilly blouse, but this is more of an everyday look that I can wear frequently.

Blue and green is more of a spring colour palette, but I was making the most of a sunny day. There’s a storm heading our way at the weekend, so it will feel truly autumnal. It might even be time to dig out the big coats!

  2. Those pants are so pretty! I love the different buttons on the vest, too! Such a great outfit! Thank you so much for the feature!

How odd the waistcoat doesn’t unbutton. But, the buttons are so cool! I love this blue waistcoat with the green tee which perfectly goes with the fun pants! I wish we’d get some rain as we’ve had less than 3 inches since the beginning of August. It still feels like summer here, and I’m done with it! Thanks so much for the link up!

Such a chic choice for early fall! The waistcoat really shines with the patterned trousers, and I love how the blue and green palette still feels fresh and seasonal. Even if it’s tricky to take off, your waistcoat definitely looks worth the effort!

Stunning outfit, but isn’t that annoying about the ‘buttons’ ! Looks good how you’ve styled it though and definitely worth keeping xx Jacqui

It cannot be easy to get it of and on then. Very weird. But it’s a very pretty one, love the buttons. Waistcoats are growing on me.

That is the cutest waist coat on you, even though the “un” buttons are a bit odd! I have ordered garments before not realizing the buttons were purely decorative, you just assume that a row of buttons will be functional. I love the analogous color combination of this outfit, the blues and greens look like they belong together. Thanks for sharing and hosting the link up. I hope you have a good week!

  12. I always like waistcoats. Especially when I’m wearing a t-shirt that’s a bit tight around the belly. A waistcoat will cover that up. I’m going to look up mine. I haven’t been wearing them.

P.S. How many pairs of glasses do you have? I like that you match the color with your clothes.

I immediately zeroed in on the sneakers because I LOVE that colorway! So fun!
