A couple of years ago I had my heart set on finding the perfect pink coat. When I say perfect, I mean that it had to be pale pink, a simple design and not expensive. Despite searching online and trawling eBay to the point of obsessiveness I could not fine “the one”. Eventually I got sidetracked and ended up buying a couple of fuschia pink coats – both very nice and fantastic bargains, but not precisely what I wanted. I broke one of my cardinal rules: I settled for a “nearly but not quite”. Well, two to be precise.
Fast forward a couple of years and pale pink is suddenly the colour of the moment again – and I still wanted that coat I’d seen on Pinterest/magazines/fashion blogs. As fate would have it, I’d taken my watch to the jewellers to have the battery replaced and had some time to kill. On a whim I popped in to a nearby charity shop…and…ta-daa! To my delight, there was the exact coat I’d been looking for all this time. I tried it on and quickly snapped it up for the bargain price of £9.99. I took it straight to the dry cleaner’s and a couple of days later it was as good as new. It’s from Great Plains so it’s a good quality coat, and probably hardly worn. It just shows what amazing bargains you can stumble upon in charity shops. Finding the perfect pink coat took a while but it was definitely worth the wait!
For its first appearance on the blog (and I’m sure there’ll be many others) I’m keeping it casual with boyfriend jeans and a silk top from All Saints. Olive and khaki are also very popular shades this season and they happen to pair well with pale pink. To create a contrast to the relaxed fit of the jeans and top I chose these pretty pink block heel shoes with bead embellishment and a bird print chain handle bag that I bought in Abu Dhabi. To finish the look I’m wearing my fab Autumn Tale Winkwood sunglasses and beaded jewellery that I made myself.

It really is the perfect pink coat, Emma! I love pale pink with olive, too. Such a pretty color combination. And then those shoes are so fabulous! And all the little bird motifs in your bag and jewelry. What a wonderful spring look! I love the amazing things you can find in a second hand store!

Thank you Shelbee! I love a good rummage in charity shops 🙂
You remember “the” pink coat at M&S a couple of years ago? The one that had all the hype? I was ruthless in tracking it down the moment it landed, but I didn’t like the cocoon shape on me, or the colour as it turned out — a deeper fuchsia or rose pink is better on me. I am still trying to find that elusive coat in a fitted style….Your coat looks lovely, and how exciting it must have been to find it at last.

I do remember it Gail! In fact that may well have been what started me off looking for a pink coat in the first place. I seem to remember pink being a huge trend when I was about 30 too – I bought pink bags and shoes – only to go right off the colour for years. Everything comes back again though – that’s why I’m a terrible hoarder!
First of all, I NEED these sunglasses! They are too gorgeous. I’m so happy you waited to find the perfect coat! I LOVE it on you!

I looked for a pink coat myself a couple of years ago, then I saw my Boden one on another blogger and went, Yes! I wish it was the price you found yours 🙂 It looks great on you.
