Well it certainly feels like the new season is here now with the kids back to school and grey, wet weather. I really haven’t missed the morning school run or the cooler weather. I’m hoping we still get some sunshine and decent temperatures before Autumn really starts to bite. I’m seeing lots of rich, Autumnal colours in the shops now – and even Halloween decorations!
Dressing for this time of year can be awkward, that in between phase when the weather can vary a lot from day to day. One way of subtlely shifting your wardrobe towards the new season is to work in autumnal colours in lightweight fabrics that can be layered. I bought this Finery graffiti floral print shift dress, along with a few other pieces from the same brand, from Secret Sales earlier this year. They were all hugely discounted, with this dress costing just Β£15. I also bought the skirt in the same print for Β£11. The micro dot trousers and the shirt dress I wore back in April were other bargains in the same order. The prices were too good to resist!
Although the weather isn’t great here in the UK, it’s not cold, so I don’t need to dust off my coats and boots yet. When I do, this dress will work perfectly with either burgundy or navy tights and boots. For now I’m letting my legs see the light of day with these navy ankle strap shoes that I picked up in the M&S sale for a mere Β£11!
Apart from the white base, there are four colours in the print of the dress, providing plenty of options for accessories. I opted to pick out the burgundy with my hat, bag and ring. The navy shoes, blue earrings and black sunglasses break it up nicely. In future I may go with a navy hat and bag if I swap the shoes for burgundy boots.

GORGEOUS dress on you Emma, and wowza, what a deal on those amazing shoes. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve kicked myself for missing out on some great M&S shoes… the most recent ones were those red sued peep toe booties. π xx
Thanks Lisa! I love M&S shoes, they’re so comfortable! You have to be quick off the blocks though as the best ones sell out fast.
Thank you for the feature Emma! Made my day. I need to look at this Secret Sales site, especially if you can get items like this. I am loving the Finery brand at the mo and this dress looks amazing. You will be able to wear this years down the line and it won’t date. Love it xx
You’re welcome Laurie! Finery is one of my favourite brands at the moment too, the clothes are modern but still very elegant. I did feel a bit decadent buying the skirt in the same print but at that price I’d have been daft not to!
Oh Emma what a wonderful print dress. You look so amazing and this shoes only 11 GBP? wow
Xo Tina
Thanks Tina! Yes, only Β£11 π
Great dress, really loving Finery (bought 3 items today!). Secret sales sound interesting.
Thanks Gail. Can’t wait to see what you’ve bought π
Love the bold and colorful dress! I really love color and the cobalt with burgundy looks so good together . I also feel like Sept is a tricky month for blog pictures and wearing Fall clothes as it isnt that cold yet here in the South. Lovely shoes too!

Thank you Jess! Yes the weather is a bit temperamental here in the UK too, plus it’s getting dark earlier now which limits photo opportunities.
Super fun dress, and I love those heels, they are so classy!
