It’s already late April and the weather continues to be disappointing. I remember in 2020 during the first lockdown we had glorious warm weather. No sunbathing this Spring that’s for sure. This neon check blazer had me reaching for my sunglasses though! There’s no denying that I have a blazer addiction. They are my favourite pieces to look for in charity shops and on resale sites.
While my preference these days is to buy a trouser suit, I can still be tempted by an eye-catching jacket…especially if it’s a bargain! This neon check jacket is another Vinted bargain – only £6 (plus postage and buyer protection fee). I love wearing neon hues in Spring – I’m wearing similar shades in this post, and here I wore the same pink jumper with black faux leather trousers. Black trousers or jeans would look great with this jacket for a more toned down look.
I’m sure you all know by now that Vinted is my go-to resale platform – both for buying and selling. (Admittedly, I buy more than I sell!) However, I decided to dip my toe in the water with listing items on Depop. It did not start well. I uploaded some shoes and a leather top, and within minutes I had a notification saying someone had bought the shoes. I was amazed, but not altogether surprised as I’ve sold something on Vinted before within an hour of listing. However, the notification was in fact a message from an account instructing me to click on a link to a website with a very similar address to Depop in order to receive the payment.
Now, the majority of people use the app rather than the website; most platforms are geared towards that. But being new to selling on Depop I was confused, especially as the app was instructing me to link my bank account. It wasn’t a clickable link so I had to copy and paste it. The website had the same Depop logo and font so looked totally legit. It had the correct sale amount, including postage. But I smelled a rat. Going back to the app I could see that the shoes were not showing as sold. Clearly this is part of a sophisticated scam that first time sellers are particularly vulnerable to. I tried to reply to the message, asking for payment to be made through the app for security but it wouldn’t send.
I reported this attempted scam to Depop’s help centre (which wasn’t easy to find) with a screenshot of the message. Later that day I received a reply saying they had suspended the account but it left me feeling very wary of using the platform. I will probably delete my account and the app (goodness knows I need the storage space on my phone!). So, if you’re thinking of selling on Depop – or any other platform – remember the golden rule of keeping everything within the app. I think I’ll stick to Vinted and eBay from now on!

Having a blazer addiction is a good thing. It’s such a classic item to own and highly versatile to work into your styles. This particular piece you are wearing is so visually stunning. I love the colours and pattern.

Totally with you on the neon in spring thing Emma… the pink looks incredible on you – I so want me some pink trooz!
I’ve not bought OR sold on Depop or Vinted yet, the way they work really puts me off and I’ve heard some truly awful stories about how hard it can be for sellers to get their money. I’ve decided I’m sticking with eBay, especially now that it’s totally free to list and sell clothes there 😀
Thank you for hosting my lovely! C x
This blazer is so fabulous! The colors are gorgeous.

I 100% agree with your comments on leveraging the benefits of selling through a trusted app. I have been selling gently loved items on Poshmark since 2013 and early on would get inundated with requests to sell “off the app for a better price.” No thank you, scammers. This blazer is such a great find and I love the pops of lime green in it.
I hope you are having a great week so far!

This blazer is stunning, Emma! There are so many different ways you could wear it, and you will find them all, I’m sure. The only bad experience I had was on eBay. I’d sold a dress to a woman who washed it. Then, she proceeded to try to get her money back as her washing machine had somehow put holes in the dress. I was shocked because she even said she’d washed it, and it had been fine before! Needless to say, eBay came down on my side! Thanks for the link up. I hope you’ll join me for the Weekend Traffic Jam Reboot!

Oh there is scam everywhere. You have to be so careful. The only downside I experience with Vinted, is that when you sell something expensive, it’s tricky. Because you only get a small amount back when something goes wrong. Neon looks so good with bright pink, and what a bargain!
Fabulous neon blazer! A show stopping look xx
Well the weather may be gloomy but your outfit sure isn’t. You will bring warmth and happiness anywhere with this cheerful, bright outfit.
That jacket is fantastic and looks so great over the bright pink column!
I love your colorful blazer. I wish I could find an eye-catching blazer like yours.
Amazing jacket! It looks fabulous with all your pretty pink,
Thanks so much for hosting each week. So fun to see you chose my green jumpsuit from last week!! I love it so much! I need to get a fun pink top to wear underneath!
Thanks for inspiring us.

Wow Emma, this is a whole statement outfit! You wear all the vibrant color so well. I love the bright pink under your neon checked blazer. For resale, I have bought and sold on Etsy and eBay with relatively little problem as they are very well managed and policed. Hope the sunshiny weather, to match your brilliant outfit comes soon. Thanks for sharing and the link up. Hope you have a good week!
That blazer is beautiful! I love the classic plaid but paired with the bright colors! What a great deal!
Such a happy vibe, this is sure to entice spring and summer Emma. Thanks for hosting. Jacqui xx
Love your statement blazer! The colors are fabulous!

I love that jacket, Emma.
One of my friends sells on that platform, but I haven’t tried it.

I have never tried Depop but sorry to hear you had such a poor experience—that’s scary, and thank god your information wasn’t stolen! I have had success with Poshmark in the past, but lately I’ve been taking my items to a local consignment store and that seems to be working out for the best!
