In the run up to my holiday in July, I had been on a mission to find a summer maxi dress in this colour. I trawled eBay and Vinted, as well as retail websites, but I couldn’t find exactly what I wanted. (I did buy a lovely chocolate brown max dress on Vinted which I took with me though.) However, when I saw this rust shirt dress in TK Maxx I was instantly drawn to it, even though it wasn’t the style of dress I was searching for. I just loved the colour and the quality of the fabric.
The utility style is timeless and can be dressed up or worn more casually. I’ve added classic gold jewellery and my trusty crossbody bag to match the gold buttons. I could swap the cloth belt for a cream, gold or leopard print one for contrast. When it gets colder I can layer a thin roll neck top and tights underneath it and switch the sandals for boots. I’m loving all the warm shades of brown, burgundy and deep red that are so popular this season. They’re much more flattering than black and grey, well they are for me anyway.
Well, not much has been happening! I’m still hobbling around wearing the ugly post-op sandal. Just 13 days to go now. Sunday was my first shift back at work since the surgery and it felt good to be doing something useful. Although the walk from the car park to the office (in the rain obviously, it’s Salford!) felt four times further than it usually does. Bizarrely, my big toe started hurting yesterday and woke me up several times in the night. I’ve read that it may be the bone healing or nerves reconnecting. I’m hoping it’s that and not because I’ve been overdoing it. All will be revealed next week!
