In yesterday’s Stylish Monday post I mentioned how I love bundling up in cosy outfits on a crisp, cold Winter’s day. However, there are also those days when it never seems to get fully light; those are the days that can make me feel down in the dumps. On those occasions you’ve just got to make your own sunshine…and what better way to do that than with a colourful outfit?
Dressing in bright colours really boosts my mood on dull, grey days; typical Spring hues are my favourites once Christmas and New Year is over. This lavender and sunshine yellow combination makes the new season seem almost within reach. It makes me think of crocuses, hyacinths and daffodils…not long now until we see the first blooms!
I’ve got to admit that I’m a little bit obsessed with coats, and when I saw this one reduced to £19 in the Marks & Spencer outlet I couldn’t resist it! It’s a medium weight, making it ideal for the transition to Spring. I plan on pairing it with other bright colours, such as green, blue and hot pink. But right now the sunshine yellow is just what I need in the depths of Winter; I last wore this jumper with bright pink culottes for the Style Not Age neon-themed post in February. My craving for sunshine yellow is becoming predictable around this time of year!
I love this brooch but I often forget to wear it. Luckily, I tidied up the “blog HQ” room so I knew exactly where it was. (For Christmas Pete got me a lovely storage stool for my dressing table where I now keep my favourite jewellery). I don’t really do New Year’s resolutions but I’m trying to be more organised and keep the house free of clutter…we’re only a week into the new year so I won’t get too complacent! However, I did start learning something new a few weeks ago and have put in a lot of effort; so far I’ve made great progress and hopefully I can keep it going. I’ll explain more in a future post though!
