Wearing Our Spring Sweaters – April’s Style Not Age

Happy Monday! I hope you all had a lovely weekend. I had a very lazy one as I was still feeling the after effects of the AZ Covid vaccine. Thursday was a complete write off as I was in bed for most of the day. I was a little feverish, but the main side effects were feeling achey and tired. Don’t let that put you off though – the discomfort and inconvenience is definitely worth it if it means protecting my health and that of others. Anyway, on to April’s Style Not Age theme, which was chosen by Anna.

My spring sweater is an old one, but ideal for this time of year as it’s quite airy and has half sleeves

We are wearing our spring sweaters for this month, which is very timely given the fluctuating temperature in the UK. It’s very warm in the sun when there’s no wind, but can feel chilly in the shade. My spring sweater is an old one, but ideal for this time of year as it’s quite airy and has half sleeves. In fact, I only seem to wear it during late spring/early summer; I paired it with utility trousers for last April’s Style Not Age Comfy Casuals post. It’s funny because I considered those trousers for this post but had a vague recollection of posting that outfit before…it was only afterwards that I realised it was exactly a year ago! I’ve also previously paired the blush pink sweater with a grey pleated skirt and floral print pencil skirt.

In theory, a knitted short sleeve sweater seems like a bad idea; if it’s cool enough to need a sweater then surely you’d want long sleeves too, right? But the loose knit and slightly relaxed fit of this sweater means that I don’t get too hot. The charming jewelled collar is its best feature, turning it from a basic top to a rather pretty spring knit. My mum bought it for me years ago and it comes out every spring for an appearance or two.

As I’ve finally painted my toenails I could dig out the peep toe sandals!

Having paired it with blue, grey and stone before I wanted a different colour combination for this pink sweater. These lime green trousers are also very spring-appropriate, and pink and green happens to be one of my favourite colour combinations. (I’m not the only one – you’ll see why when you scroll down!) As I’ve finally painted my toenails I could dig out the peep toe sandals! I bought these pink satin wedge sandals from Coast at the end of last summer but didn’t get chance to wear them. They are so comfortable! I’ll be wearing these lots over the coming months.

For a little fun touch, I chose my Skinny Dip strawberry print bag. It has a shoulder strap so it’s not totally impractical, but I love the beaded top handle. It’s big enough to fit a phone, lipstick, keys and credit card in – who needs anything else? I think I’m ready for an afternoon in a beer garden!

Now let’s see how my blogger friends are wearing their spring sweaters…

Anna (who chose the theme) has chosen a vintage Laura Ashley jumper she found in a charity shop, paired with some fab embroidered jeans. Head over to Anna’s Island Style to see more!

Gail of Is This Mutton? has chosen a pink and green colour palette like me. I’m in love with that gorgeous pale green cardigan!

Hilda is looking fabulous in a black and white ensemble topped off with a very stylish hat. See more of this super chic look on her blog Over the Hilda.

Jacqui of Mummabstylish has chosen a gorgeous bright orange jumper which she has teamed with white jeans and boots.

That’s all for this month, I hope you’ve enjoyed seeing us wearing our spring sweaters! We’ll be back on the last Monday of May with another fun theme, and I’ll be back tomorrow with the Style With a Smile link up! Hope to see you then!

I adore those green trousers, and love the collar of the cute short sleeved jumper! I noticed on IG you had painted your toenails – you always have such great attention to detail. I have used fake tan on my legs (just in case!) but not given myself a pedicure yet…..
