Getting a good night’s sleep is the key to feeling energised and productive during the day. If I don’t get enough sleep, I feel dreadful. Of course, there are many factors that can influence your quality and quantity of sleep, such as room temperature, caffeine intake and screen time. (I’ve written about this previously in more detail). But probably the most obvious one is being comfortable in bed.
The bed in my spare room has a mattress that’s seen better days, but until recently it was seldom used, so it didn’t matter too much. However, in recent months I’ve been using it regularly when Pete’s on very early starts. (He’s a light sleeper and I’m a snorer!) A cheap mattress topper just wasn’t cutting it, so I was delighted when I was offered the chance to review a Simba hybrid mattress topper. It arrived in a sturdy protective wrapper inside a big box, as you can see. It was only when I took the old mattress topper off, which was one of those thin quilted types, that I realised there was another one just like it underneath. That just goes to prove the saying “buy cheap buy twice”!
The Simba mattress topper was vert easy to unpack and fit. It has elasticated corner straps to keep it in place. And unlike the cheap memory foam toppers, it doesn’t overhang the mattress at the corners. That’s a real bugbear of mine because it turns getting a fitted bottom sheet on into a wrestling match! No such problems with the Simba mattress topper, the bottom sheet slipped on effortlessly.
As for comfort, well it has certainly exceeded my expectations. It has just the right amount of support, not too firm, not too soft. Goldilocks would approve! The Simbatex® foam is designed to have a more open structure, which means it’s designed to offer extra airflow compared to standard memory foam. It’s also infused with graphite to help dissipate heat…especially important if you’re experiencing hormonal fluctuations. The mattress topper is certified to CertiPUR® requirements so it contains no heavy metals like mercury or lead.
In addition to toppers, Simba have pillows, duvets and a wide range of Standard Single Mattresses to suit various requirements and budgets. If you’re looking to upgrade your mattress or transform an existing one, I would definitely recommend Simba. If you live in the UK you can try one for a risk free 200-day trial with free delivery. They come with a 10-year guarantee and if you sign up to the newsletter you get 15% off your first order!

We have a Tempur Pedic. I like it well enough and will have it for several years to come. It’s not my favorite as it gets hot and stays hot. Before we bought this set, we had some other kind. But, I bought featherbed toppers to put on them. They were so nice until we moved. I no longer had a clothes line to put them over and beat them to redistribute the feathers.
This looks like a really good topper!
