Blue Psychedelic Vintage Shirt and Marigold Trousers + Style With a Smile Link Up

Blue Psychedelic Vintage Shirt and Zara Marigold Trousers

When I bought this blue psychedelic vintage shirt and marigold trousers on eBay recently I hadn’t envisaged wearing them together. However, I was eager to try them on, so I put them both on at the same time and ended up loving the result! That’s often how my favourite outfits come about.

I already have a pair of orange trousers but when I saw these I was immediately tempted to buy them. Rather than bright orange they are more marigold – somewhere in between orange and ochre. I’ve seen this particular shade quite a lot lately (these trousers are from Zara but I’ve also spotted some at Asos). It’s a more versatile shade than true orange and will pair well with aubergine, dark green as well as neutrals. But for their first appearance I’ve teamed the trousers with this fabulous blue psychedelic vintage shirt.

I was already sold on the psychedelic print, but the cuffs and collar definitely sealed the deal! They give the shirt a bit of a western vibe which I love. The fabric is super stretchy and the shirt has a zip top to bottom, so it’s really easy to do up. It does have a couple of tiny holes in it but you have to look really hard to see them…all par for course with vintage pieces. I’ve picked up on the white in the print with my boots and bag, and finished off the look with blue sunglasses and earrings.

Do you love this marigold shade? What colours would you style it with?

What a wonderful color combination. I’ve also had a thing recently for warmer toned pants, in the range from mustard to burnt orange. I see it as a spin on the khaki but with a pop. And your look certainly has pop.

That’s such an unusual orange, very rich and mellow. I think it would look great with fuchsia pink. The blues of the blouse really suit you! xx

  9. Emma, this shirt is simply magnificent! I love all the little details on it and the print is just so fun! And your marigold pants are a wonderful combination with the shades of blue in your top. I just got a pair of bright orange pants the other day and I thought of you when I picked them up. They are more of a cigarette style pant and I have no idea what to wear with them. But the color was so fun and they were on clearance for less than $10 so I bought them!

  10. I love the blue top, you’ve got some great retro pieces! I love how you found the outfit, by jut trying them on together, sometimes it is the unexpected that works! Love the color of the pants.
