Looking after my skin is a priority for me. As much as I love clothes, you wear your skin all day day everyday, and there’s no hiding it. So, if I had to choose between spending money on skincare or clothes, skincare would win every time. If you don’t feel happy with how your skin looks and feels, it can really affect your confidence. Over the last year or so, I’ve upped the ante with treatments – both in salon and at home. I’ve tried Morpheus8, HIFU, microneedling and I have an LED mask that I use five days a week.
The new devices coming onto the market for at home use are a game-changer. Now, you don’t have to spend a ton of money and take time out of your busy schedule to fit in beauty appointments. Just factoring in a few minutes a day can make a big difference; consistency is key.
The latest skincare tool in my arsenal is the Shark FacialPro Glow*, a multi function facial system that cleanses, hydrates and depuffs. I was intrigued as to how it works and whether the instructions would be easy to follow. After reading through the booklet, which admittedly took a little while, I felt confident that I knew what I was doing. First of all, you need to fully charge the device, which takes four hours. This will last for one week of use if you do a weekly Facial Glow Routine and five daily depuffing sessions.

Inside the capsule there is the power hub, plus exfoliation and depuffing attachments. The defuffing attachment is smooth and moulded to glide over the skin. It has Instachill and Instaheat settings, which you can see in the photo below. The heat setting is to boost circulation and loosen debris before exfoliation, while the cold setting is to depuff, soothe and calm the skin afterwards. It’s lovely for the under eye area.

The exfoliation was the part of the routine I was most curious about. The attachment has two chambers inside: one for the clean water and the larger one on the right for the used water. The guide in the photo below explains what the colour of the used water means. There are four suction tips: two for sensitive skin and two for normal, with a wide and narrow one for each. The wide tip is for cheeks, jaw and forehead. The narrow tip is for the T zone. Before using the Shark FacialPro to exfoliate, you need to apply the Derm Detox gel and leave for three minutes. The AHA and BHA helps to gently dissolve impurities.
After a bit of trial and error, I figured out how to glide the suction tip over the skin, following facial countours. I was surprised to see my skin go a little pink because there was zero discomfort. Proof that it’s working! After the three-minute exfoliation phase, the hydration step follows. You empty the tank of used water and fill the small one on the left with Hydro Infuse gel. This step is just like the exfoliation stage, but with the Hydro Infuse gel – which contains hyaluronic and salicylic acids – instead of water. After this stage the liquid was slightly cloudy, which apparently means I’ve removed excess oil.

The final step was the Instachill, to depuff and refresh. It’s amazing how quickly it gets cold! After completing the Facial Glow Routine, you need to clean the tanks and tips. This is surprisingly easy: you put the self-rinse cap on the nozzle, fill the small chamber with water and hold the power and intensity buttons simultaneously, this starts a 90 second rinse of the tanks. The tips can be rinsed and wiped clean (there’s a handy little brush for cleaning them too).

As with many good quality at-home devices, the Shark FacialPro Glow is an investment. At £299, you want to be sure it’s going to really make a difference to your skin. After one use I can definitely see an improvement to my complexion in terms of hydration, clarity and softness. It exceeded my expections and I’m sure I’ll make the Facial Glow Routine a regular weekly treatment. I’m looking forward to seeing long-term improvements with regular use. It’s another great addition to my home skincare routine – one I didn’t know I needed!

I’m always interested in skincare gadgets! This one sounds like a winner, but that price! I hope you’ll do a follow up in a few weeks to let us know your thoughts then. BTW…you always look beautiful!
