If you follow me on Instagram you may have seen my recent charity shop bargains on Insta stories. A couple of weeks ago I picked up this skirt for a mere £3…brand new from M&S! I also scored a gorgeous deep purple velvet jacket from Next for £2 and a stunning fishtail skirt (also M&S) for £4.99! You’ll be seeing those here on the blog very soon.
The tag was still attached to this skirt – it was originally £34.99. It’s great quality, hangs nicely and fits well, as I’d expect from M&S. It has an elasticated waist so it’s also very comfortable. There’s still a chill in the air so I paired it with my black turtleneck jumper that I’ve worn so much over winter. As the skirt is long I chose my biker jacket to balance out the proportions, although I think a more cropped style would work better.
I’ve learned my lesson wearing fabric boots on a waterlogged garden, so these patent boots were ideal. I bought them after seeing them on Nancy who alerted me to some great Zara January sale bargains. I snapped up these boots, as well as a beautiful green embroidered pair that I’d first seen on Lisa…us bloggers are a bad influence on each other 😉 But I’m not going to feel guilty because this bronze faux leather pleated skirt and patent boots cost me a total of £10.99! Add to that my cute Asos cat bag which I bought on Ebay – new with tags for £10 including postage – and I think I did pretty well. Excluding the jacket, the outfit comes in at less than £30, which just goes to show that you don’t have to spend a fortune on clothes to look stylish.

Thanks Jess! Yes I had my hair cut a bit shorter…in fact it turned out a bit shorter than I was expecting but I like it 🙂
Hi Emma, what a delightful outfit at a bargain price. Lucky finds for you indeed. I’ve got a similar skirt and paid a bit more than that, although it was in the sale. Thanks for hosting the linkup.
I’m taking the plunge and starting a CHIC&STYLISH linkup on Thursday, I do hope you can stop by to see and maybe add post. Jacqui

Thanks Jacqui! Congrats on the new link up!
I’m in the “love the bronze pleated skirt” club for sure! And that kitty bag is so so darling!
I understand the devotion to the black turtleneck, I have a grey turtleneck I have worn no less than 397 times since I bought it last winter. I wish I had others exactly like it in ALL the colors!

Thank you Suzy 🙂
I need to work on my thrift shopping. You have inspired me. I guess I need to try harder and spend more time searching!!
It can be a bit time consuming Hilda but the searching is part of the fun for me 🙂
Pleated skirts and elasticised waistbands are two words banished from my sartorial vocabulary but oh my goodness, Emma, you’re making me rethink things!! That skirt looks heavenly on you.
p/s For me, Poshmark is a treasure trove of clothes!!
Haha, I know what you mean Sheela! I used to associate elasticated waistbands with having one foot in the grave but I now appreciate their comfort! I just have to make sure I keep the top half streamlined and not too long or I look like a sack of potatoes!
Lovely outfit! I like the combination of a leather jacket and this pleated skirt. And the handbag creates a cheerful mood 🙂
