The last Monday of the month means it’s time for October’s Style Not Age blogger collaboration! It was Jacqui’s turn to set the theme this month and she chose ‘ My Favourite Autumn Trend’. Being a ‘more is more’ kinda gal, I couldn’t narrow it down to just one…so I decided to feature three!
Rust is a very popular colour this Autumn/Winter; it’s such a flattering shade and it perfectly reflects the falling leaves at this time of year. I recently featured a rust checked wrap skirt and it’s now my favourite Autumn hue. I didn’t have many rust-coloured pieces in my wardrobe so I used a Debenhams gift voucher to purchase these Hobbs trousers in the sale. Unfortunately I think they’re now sold out, but I’ve linked to some similar alternatives in the the widget.
A trousers and jacket combination is a typical work outfit for me. I often get up very early for work so a thick jacket or lightweight coat works best for me; it means I can take it off if it warms up later in the day but I can still wear it in the office without too much bulk. Velvet is one of my favourite fabrics for the colder months, and I have several jackets that I’ve bought from charity shops. I had intended to wear a brown velvet blazer but at 5.30am I could not lay my hands on it. In fact I was starting to think I’d imagined having ever bought one!
I pulled this aubergine-hued one out thinking it was brown, but under closer inspection I realised it wasn’t. At that time of the morning I don’t have time to faff, so I had to go with it. I think I actually prefer aubergine to brown – it adds more depth to the colour palette. (When I got home I found the aforementioned brown jacket!) This one was a total bargain at only £2! It’s from Next and is really well made. It feels great to wear and kept me warm all day.
Leopard seems to be an all-year-round favourite (no complaints from me!) but snake print is coming to the fore this season. This rollneck top breaks up the two blocks of colour and picks out the burnt orange of the trousers. It reminded me that I had these old lace up shoes stored under the bed, so they came out for a double helping of snake print. This outfit was a combination of planning and fluke in equal parts, but I’m really pleased with how it turned out!

Everyone looks so great! I need to read all the posts. I am loving the aubergine velvet blazer. And I agree, the color is much richer with this outfit than plain old brown would be. Great combination!

I love your roundup. Thanks for linking La Redoute it’s new-to-me and they carry wide shoes! I’m a lover of aubergine as well, it’s a little tricky to find sometimes…
Wow, that color combination is beautiful! That rich velvet with the rust is so striking. Of course, Jacqui looks amazing in rust as well. Don’t you love that color this fall?

Ha ha! I love that you thought this rich purple was dark brown and then just rolled with it. This colour combo is unexpected and fabulous! The whole outfit is really chic. I think the rich colours are especially wonderful with your hair colour.
