Hello, I hope the week is going well for you so far! The sunshine has returned for my birthday 🙂 I am now closer to 50 than 40…and I’m totally fine with that! We might go out for a meal somewhere later, we’re still mulling it over. I did test the waters by going to the pub on Friday and sitting in the beer garden with friends. It was a nice thing to do as the kids got to run around in the field and celebrate the end of primary school. They’ve had to miss the usual leavers’ party so it was important to mark this milestone in their lives.
As the weather has picked up I can now wear nice dresses again! I was delighted when I found this Fabienne Chapot pink wrap dress on Depop recently at a bargain price (Fabienne Chapot is one of my favourite labels…as I’m sure you know by now!). It’s a lovely cool fabric, with a popper fastening to prevent gaping on the neckline. Picking out accessories is made easy with the green leaf print leading the way.
My new earrings from BeExceptional are perfect for this dress. I discovered the company via a Facebook group post, and Joanna, the owner, kindly offered to gift me a pair of her handmade earrings to feature on the blog. Joanna makes the most exquisite pieces of jewellery using soutache, which is a narrow, flat braid. It is often used as the trimming of drapery or clothing. Soutache bead embroidery involves stacking the cord in multiple layers and stitching them. My eyes were like dinner plates when I saw all the beautiful pieces of jewellery on the website…I’ve always loved bold, colourful jewellery.
As well as being absolutely stunning, the earrings that Joanna makes are feather-light. I can’t wear heavy earrings anymore beause the holes are very low down on my ear lobes and they don’t look good. Also, heavy earrings are not comfortable. With these I don’t even know I’m wearing them…I keep touching them to make sure they’re still there!
