Food Print Trouser Co-ord + Style With a Smile Link Up

Another week, another heatwave! The weekend was a warm one in London and public transport was not our friend. Our train was delayed, then terminated at Milton Keynes, so we were all crushed onto another one. Then the tube was really busy – Metallica and Harry Styles concerts on the same night, as well as Wimbledon – so it was the recipe for a sweaty mess. Metallica were fantastic though, a great atmosphere and performance. I’m so glad they played Master of Puppets as it’s my favourite song of theirs. (None of the sets on this tour were repeated, so we were lucky.)

The train from Hackney Wick back to West Hampstead where we were staying was crazy. I was contorted into an unnamed yoga position with my face in someone’s beefy armpit for most of the journey. We were glad to get back to an air conditioned room. The following day we did an audio tour of the Houses of Parliament, which was fascinating. We got to see both the Lords and the Commons, including standing at the opposition despatch box. Isobel especially loved it as she’s studying politics, and on the way out we bumped in to Wes Streeting who stopped for a photo with her. I should explain for my overseas readers – he was the Health Secretary until his resignation in May, which led to Keir Starmer announcing he was stepping down as Prime Minister. Yes, we get through PMs here in the UK since Brexit!

So a busy, fun and sweaty birthday weekend for Isobel’s 17th. And then I came down with a bug the following day and and am just about back to normal now. Never a dull moment!

This food print trouser co-ord is super lightweight and doesn’t crease much, so it’s great for taking on holidays

Anyway, on to today’s outfit! You all know how much I love a matching set, they just make getting ready so easy. This food print trouser co-ord is super lightweight and doesn’t crease too much, so it’s great for taking on holidays. In fact, I bought it for my trip to Cape Verde last year. That holiday holds mixed memories for me because I had to dash back on my own when my mum was dying. It will be the first anniversary on Friday. In a way, I’m glad I’m working because it will be a welcome distraction. I did wear this co-ord on that trip but didn’t photograph it, so this is its debut.

The print has a bit of everything – fruit, flowers, fish…all the Fs!

The sleeves have tabs that can be buttoned up to make them shorter, which is a nice detail. The print has a bit of everything – fruit, flowers, fish…all the Fs! That reminded me of these gold fish earrings that I bought a couple of years ago but have never worn before. They’re quite heavy so I can’t wear them for long, but they are cute.

A woven bag and hat are essential for a complete holiday look. The hat is by Sorena Handmade – the same brand as the one I abruptly parted company with in Madeira thanks to a gust of wind! I found this one on eBay, and although it’s not an exact replacement (I loved the heart design of my lost one) this is a fabulous addition to my hat collection. (And it was a bargain too!)

So many things happened over the week, some good, some not so good. I can imagine being stuck on a train surrounded by sweaty angry people. Glad you enjoyed the concert. I love your outfit so much. It’s playful, it’s summery and it’s you. The hat is cute, pity it does not have a heart but the sun looks good too. Love the fish earrings. Thank you for hosting.
