There’s a definite buzz in the air in advance of Isobel’s 17th birthday on Friday! After months of keeping it a secret, she finally knows the main reason for our visit to London: we’re going to see Metallica at Wembley! It wasn’t practical to keep it under wraps for any longer as we all need to plan outfits, especially as it’s going to be hot in London over the weekend. On Saturday, we are doing a tour of the Houses of Parliament – a rite of passage for a politics student! And then we brace ourselves for the driving lessons to come!
Anyway, while I ponder how to dress for a heavy metal concert and walking around a hot capital the following day (with only a backpack) I’m enjoying keeping cool in my new dress* from Izabel. This dark orange maxi dress is lovely and airy, while fitting in all the right places. As you may know, I’m part of the Izabel affiliate programme, so I have a number of their dresses. Every single one is a joy to wear and fits perfectly. They are also easy to get on (no fiddly zips) and many of them have pockets, as this dress does. The sleeve length and style is ideal for anyone not completely comfortable showing their upper arms. And even if you are, sometimes it’s just nice to have the coverage while still keeping the air flowing.
I’ve styled the dress with blush pink wedge shoes and crossbody bag for just a hint of a second colour. A bright, contrasting shade would have taken the focus away from the dress. Metallics, animal print or pastel blue would also pair nicely with it. Right, I’m off to throw some things in a backpack while blasting Metallica out. I’ll post some hightlights on Instagram 🙂

Happy birthday, Isobel! I hope you have the best time ever at the Metallica concert! This is such a gorgeous dress and I love the blush pink accessories. The lighter color really does allow the dress to stand on its own. I would wear this in a heartbeat!

That color is gorgeous on you! The dark orange is so rich and flattering, and I love how you paired it with the blush pink accessories—they soften the look beautifully without taking away from the dress. Have an amazing time at the Metallica concert and your London weekend!
