Happy Monday everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend. I’m just back from spending a few days at my mum’s in the East of England. I was definitely feeling the Siberian blast there, especially with no central heating! Given the weather conditions it seems fitting to feature Fun With Fur from the new Style Not Age group for today’s post.

We’re kicking it off with Hilda’s choice of “fun with fur” – rather appropriate given the weather!

I’m delighted to be a member of this group of midlife bloggers, along with Jacqui, Hilda and Anna. The group, which was previously known as the 5Over50 Collective, has been rebranded after the departure of Gail and Laurie, and is now being led by Jacqui. Every month one of us will pick a theme for us to style in our own individual way. We’re kicking it off with Hilda’s choice of “fun with fur” – rather appropriate given the weather!

The name of the group conveys our collective attitude perfectly: style matters, age does not! We have all hit our sartorial stride in midlife and are enjoying fashion more than ever.

This collar is the perfect replacement for a necklace; the burgundy compliments the grey dress, and it keeps my neck warm.

I had no shortage of choice for this “fun with fur” theme as I have several faux fur coats and scarves. When I raided my stash of winter accessories I found three faux fur collars that I’d bought from River Island in sale a couple of years ago. They were all unworn, with the tags still attached. This burgundy one was just what I needed with this grey knit dress. I’d tried various necklaces but couldn’t find quite the right look. This collar is the perfect replacement for a necklace; the burgundy compliments the grey dress, and it keeps my neck warm. Plus, it has jewel embellishments that look like brooches 🙂

I’m a big fan of jumper dresses, and while I usually prefer big chunky knits, it’s nice to have a more fitted style.

I bought the grey knit dress form Laura Ashley a few weeks ago at half price. I’m a big fan of jumper dresses, and while I usually prefer big chunky knits, it’s nice to have a more fitted style. It contains cashmere so it’s beautifully soft. My boots are really old – I bought them for £10 at least a decade ago. They certainly don’t owe me anything! I almost opted for my burgundy crossbody bag but thought it was too matchy-matchy. When stuck for inspiration, try leopard print. It never lets me down.

Here’s what my three blogger pals chose for their “fun with fur” outfit:

Jacqui is wearing a beautiful cobalt blue dress and faux fur gilet. I love those leopard print shoes…looking very chic against the graffiti wall!

Hilda is keeping warm in a gorgeous faux fur hat…ideal for keeping that Siberian blast at bay.

Anna has layered a faux fur-lined coat over a stunning floral print maxi dress. Those funky boots finish off the look perfectly!

I hope you enjoyed this first instalment of Fun With Fur from the Style Not Age group! The weather’s set to become even colder over the next few days so I think I’ll be wrapping up warm in one of my faux fur coats!

Lovely post Emma, and thanks again for joining the group – it’s great to have some fresh input for the team. I’ve yet to come across a fur collar, but maybe that’s because I’ve never looked for one. Yours is the perfect match for your boots and tights and tones beautifully with your hair too, and I bet none of that was by accident! Fabulous.

  3. Oh wow, Emma! This fur collar is so adorable. I have been wanting something like this but I am unsure if I have anything in my wardrobe to wear it with. I love the way you have styled the collar with your knit dress and tall boots! Great look!

  4. I am a fan of faux fur as you know! I LOVE your collar, I was looking at those this year too. I have my bow jeweled collar from Zara, but this is adorable. Love the jewels too..Your dress is something I would wear too as i have always loved the coziness of a sweater dress. You look amazing!
I love everyone’s style and different garments of faux fur.

That’s a cute fur collar, Emma! But I must admit that it’s the dress I’m desperate for lol. I once had a dress very similar to that, but it kind of went out of shape so I had to bin it. I’ve been wanting to replace it for ages. I wonder if it’s still available at Laura Ashley? I must have a look!
Love the new group, by the way! I just joined the FAB40s too so I know how much fun you can have with a theme 🙂
