How’s your week going? Are you all ready for Christmas? I’m recovering from the operation on Friday, taking it easy with my feet up as much as possible. Thank you for your kind messages wishing me well. It was all very straightforward and I was home in time for tea. I’ve got to wear a “reverse shoe” for almost six weeks, which keeps the weight off my toes. It’s a cumbersome thing, but needs must. I’ve also got crutches which are a pain because whenever I prop them up they seem to fall over. Having a shower on one leg with the bandaged foot resting on a chair outside the cubicle is an artform!
Last week I ended up working two extra days that I wasn’t expecting, so I had a mad rush getting everything done, including blog photos. I had to resort to using the tripod for most of them. The weather was another challenge because we’ve had so much rain. I made the most of the few sunny days we had. This outfit is pretty much what I wore on Christmas Day last year, minus the cardigan, bag and sunglasses. I wore it to work a couple of weeks ago with the cardigan, which got lots of compliments. Gold and black velvet is a festive combination, without being too Christmassy. It’s also very comfortable, mainly thanks to the stretchy waistband on the trousers.
I love the sunglasses, which I bought several years ago, but they are very heavy. It’s a shame really, because it means I never take them on holiday. They tend to slip down my nose after a couple of minutes, that’s even after I tried to tighten them. They look good for photos though!
I’ve done most of my Christmas shopping and wrapping, just a few bits left to get. I’ve even posted my cards – I can’t remember being this organised before! Being stuck on the sofa has given me plenty of time for online shopping. I’m looking forward to the sales from the comfort of my living room. Have you got your eye on anything in the January sales?

Emma, I know you had the other foot done already so you’ve got a good handle on what to expect. I had the same surgeries about 10 years ago and I’ve never regretted it. Still, wishing you an easy recovery. Also, this is a fabulous holiday look. Black and gold are a classic and sometimes unexpected pairing. Well done!

Oh, I just love how your glasses match with your outfit! This is a very festive and glamorous look.
I LOVE black and gold together—I think it’s such a classy combo. And your outfit is classy with a fabulous dose of quirky which is right up my street, Emma! I love the glasses too but I can relate about the weight of them. I’ve got a couple of pairs like that, that can only really be used for blog photos lol!
Hope your foot is healing well. It sounds like a bit of a nightmare with the crutches!
Big hugs
Suzy xx
