This orange trouser suit and pale blue shirt combination is my latest take on what’s becoming my favourite colour pairing. I’ve teamed cobalt and bright orange together a couple of times before (here and here). However, this time it’s a more muted affair. I’ve featured these trousers on the blog fives times before and the jacket twice. (I bought them separately on eBay a few weeks apart). I love a brightly coloured trouser suit; they’re an easy way to make a strong impact and still be comfortable all day long.
The pale blue cotton shirt helps to create a slightly androgynous look teamed with the orange trouser suit. The shirt has a relaxed fit, no darts, but is very slightly shaped for a feminine look. The pink contrast oxford fabric adds a nice detail to the shirt’s cuffs, collar and button placket; making a feature of this by pairing the shirt with pale pink trousers would be a great styling option, especially with the sleeves turned up to show off the contrast fabric. I’ve added a wooden statement necklace to compliment the warm tones of the orange, but I think a men’s tie would look fabulous too (something I plan to try).
To keep the look simple and streamlined I chose a pale blue bag and boots to match the shirt. I bought the boots from Asos a few years ago and haven’t worn them before. To be honest, I think I needed the next size up (these are a 7 but I take an 8 now). However, they weren’t available in an 8 and I really wanted them. They fit ok but I wouldn’t want to walk too far in them, just in case they rub. A selection of rings in co-ordinating colours, orange earrings and ombre aviators complete the look.
The last week has been quite eventful. My mum has been in hospital due to problems with dialysing. Unfortunately the hospital doesn’t allow visitors due to Covid, so I’ve been getting updates over the phone. Thankfully, she went home today and I’m going to visit her during half term next week.
On Sunday, on my way home from work I stopped off at the supermarket, and as I was walking back to my car someone misjudged turning into the space next to my car and crashed into it! Luckily the damage isn’t too bad. I’m taking it to the garage tomorrow and it will be repaired by the end of the week. I thought it would be a long-winded process but my insurance company have been great.
Now for some good news…Isobel has been chosen as the town’s Rose Queen for 2022/23! She will get to dress up in a fancy white gown and be crowned at the town’s fete. Throughout the year she will represent the town at other fetes, attend the Remembrance Day parade and Christmas light switch on, and raise money for her chosen charity. She is incredibly excited to say they least! I’ve already ordered her dress, just shoes and dainty gloves (her idea) to buy now. It’s going to be a busy summer!

Love love love these complementary colors! I never love cobalt blue and a true orange together because those are the team colors of the American football team in my home town… and the merchandise is everywhere, quite annoying. But I love this lighter blue and lighter orange together, it’s the perfect way to do orange and blue without making me think of the Broncos, haha! So chic and bold!

Good news about your mum! I how she can go through with the dialysis. And what a bummer about the car, luckily your insurance did cooperate. But what a good news about Isobel! That is so lovely! And what a honor. Congratulations to her!
Love this refreshing combination of colours!
Emma, this orange suit is brilliant and I love the androgynous styling with a blue oxford shirt. Your wooded necklace is really cool, too. But I agree that a men’s necktie would look really awesome with this outfit! And I am basically dying over those boots! A huge congratulations to Isobel. She is going to be such a wonderful Rose Queen!

I am sorry to hear about your mom Emma. Good that she got to go home from the hospital. Oh, that is so annoying about your car, crappy drivers everywhere!

What a surprise to see my post among last week’s favorites! I am honored.
I love the marigold pant suit! Such a yummy color, and you’ve styled beautifully. And many, many congrats to Isobel!!! So exciting! Glad your mom has been able to go home. I understand why the Covid restrictions are in place, but it is added stress. And ugh! It must have been a bit surreal to see someone run into your car. Glad the fix will be fast.

What a fabulous colour combination, Emma! Those boots are rather fabulous. But what I love the most is the fact that you’re wearing bright pink nail varnish with it all. You look absolutely gorgeous!
