I’m posting a day later than usual this week because I’m away at my mum’s and have been super busy. I’ve been boxing up some of my stuff, including my old Barbie and Sindy furniture which I can’t bear to get rid of! It certainly brought back lots of memories. I should really have been making the most of the nice weather after such a disappointing summer. The temperature has been in the mid 20s the last few days but it’s not set to last.
I noticed that the new season collections are in the shops and it all looks very black, grey and beige. Not my thing at all! Luckily there are still some summer sale bargains and I found this red frill eyelet dress in Tesco for only £9! It will be perfect for taking on my next trip to Madeira in October. Although I have my failsafe holiday clothes, I do like to add in one or two new pieces each trip, otherwise I get a bit bored with what I’ve packed. Also, I don’t want to photograph the same outfits in the same places!
These sandals definitely won’t be coming on any holidays with me though. It’s been a few years since I last wore them and I’d forgotten how uncomfortable they are! No doubt they are more uncomfortable now due to my foot problems. I love the perspex heels though, so they can be my “sitting shoes”! I chose them to go with the cute strawberry print bag. It has a shoulder strap inside but I think it looks better without. But let’s talk about the sunglasses! They are, shall we say, rather “extra”! I’ve long been a fan of Pearls and Swine creations, and last year I bought these and a couple of other pairs that were on sale.
They are definitely more decorative than practical given the dangly beads and red lenses! But nevertheless, I love them and will happily put up with the teasing from Pete! I’m tempted to upcycle some old sunglasses – I’ve got beads and a glue gun and I’m not afraid to use them!

Now, this is an amazing outfit, Emma! Those heels, the strawberry bag, and the red eyelet…love them all. But, yes, let’s talk about those sunglasses! They are absolutely magnificent! I wish I could wear non-prescriptive sunglasses because I’d have a million pairs! These are just so much fun…I bet you get lots of fun comments wherever you are! Thanks so much for the link party!

Thanks very much Marsha! My eyesight is not great but I wear contact lenses (I really need varifocals but get by with reading glasses with very small print).
The fall collection sounds like fun for me, lol. Those sunnies are made for you, so quirky! I hope that you have time to enjoy the sun a bit!
Thanks very much Nancy!

What a beautiful dress Emma, great colour on you and such a bargain – wish there was a large Tesco branch near to us, as I love having a wander around their fashion range. Wow, your vintage Barbie and Sindy items will be in huge demand – wish I’d kept mine. Thank you for the feature and for hosting the link party.

Thanks Alison! I think I did give some of my Sindy stuff to younger relatives but I’m glad I kept most of it. I still have loads of dolls and clothes!
Emma, this is such a brilliantly fun and vibrant outfit! Red is a beautiful color on you. I love this dress and what a bargain. And your sunglasses are super fun! I think you should definitely upcycle some old ones, too! I am on an upcycle kick right now. Fun post and fabulous outfit, my friend.
