I think I’m addicted to co-ords! They are great for those days when you don’t know what to wear (or are in a hurry). Plus, they provide plenty of styling options when worn as separates. I bought this green and paisley co-ord in Zara on a recent trip to the Trafford Centre in Manchester. Isobel had really wanted to go before the end of the summer holidays and Zara is my favourite shop there. To be honest, I was disappointed with the other shops; maybe because there’s mainly the dregs of the summer sales left before the new season stock arrives.
This is the second co-ord I’ve bought from Zara over the summer – I got the other one while in Madeira. They both have a green base colour but a different pattern and style of trousers. What you can’t see (because I’ve tucked it in) is this shirt is quite long. However, because the fabric is lightweight it doesn’t create any unsightly bulk tucked in to the trousers. I’ve been thinking of different ways to wear it – maybe tied at the front and untucked at the back, or worn unbuttoned as a “shacket”. That’s the fun of co-ords!
I’ve added my big Yaa Yaa London solar power ring and two new ones. I recently became a brand ambassador for Monica Vinader and was gifted these gorgeous stacking rings. I’ve worn them every day, I love them! I have a code for 20% off for my readers- just enter MVINSIDER20-58B4 at the checkout!
I’ve indulged myself with a few new clothes purchases over the summer, so I’ve decided to sign up to Oxfam’s Second Hand September. It’s a campaign to encourage people to buy only second hand items for 30 days in the month of September. I’ve no doubt my resolve will be tested but I’m determined to do it…and now I’ve said it here I’ve got to stick to my word! I’m acutely aware of the fashion industry’s impact on the planet and I’m partly responsible for that.
Last week I took a big bag of Isobel’s old shoes and boots – some hardly worn – to Sal’s Shoes – a charity which collects children’s outgrown shoes and distributes them to those in need. Luckily, they have a drop-off point not far from where I live, but you can also send them via the post. Tomorrow’s job is to take old school uniform to a donation point. I’m a terrible hoarder, but I’m trying to take a more practical approach and pass things on when we no longer have a need for them. Some of my favourite clothes were second hand purchases after all!
