The last few days have been busy – but in a good way. If you follow me on Instagram you may have seen that I went to Cardiff on Saturday for the official launch of Soul Sisters – a Welsh fashion brand founded by two amazing women. And if that wasn’t fabulous enough, Instagram sensation Lou Featherstone – aka Luinluland – was there for a fashion parade and meet and greet. I’ve followed Lou for a while now and she is incredible; she’s every bit as warm, funny and totally genuine as she is on Instagram. I had such a brilliant time, I honestly didn’t want the day to end. I met a bunch of lovely ladies who I got on with so well, it was like I’d known them for ages.
After the event we all piled into a taxi and went for drinks in Cardiff city centre. It was a scorcher of a day and the atmosphere was electric. I’d never been to Cardiff before but I plan to go back for a weekend sometime soon. Everyone is so friendly there, the city really charmed me. I didn’t take many photos – mainly video of the fashion parade that I’ll edit into a reel/Tiktok – because I was having so much fun! Sometimes you just have to live in the moment and soak it all in.
The sunglasses I’m wearing have a funny story behind them. I saw Lou wearing a pair on Instagram and tried to buy some but the company doesn’t ship from the U.S. So Lou said I could have them delivered to hers in Portland and she’d bring them over to the UK. Not long after that, the company sent her some PR samples and she thought these sunglasses were part of that order. That caused some confusion as Meghan Fabulous were sure they hadn’t messed her order up and sent the same ones twice. But as Lou’s glasses were a bit scratched she brought these new ones with her – forgetting that I’d ordered some to her address. When she realised she left me a hilarious voice message explaining what had happened. She apologised for wearing them on her tour of the UK, but I think that makes them even more special! My sunglasses are Instagram famous, even if I’m not!
The Souls Sisters label was founded by best friends Wenda James-Rowe (above with Lou) and Luna Amani. Wenda is a fashion stylist and Luna is a fashion and accessory designer for leading high street brands, so it seemed like a natural progression to start their own label. Soul Sisters is all about empowering women, helping them to feel and look fabulous. The T-shirts and sweatshirts are 100% organic cotton and printed in Cardiff by Visible Art using eco dyes. The collection is called “C’est Chic” and takes it’s inspiration from queens of disco and Studio 54. Of course, I couldn’t leave without buying a T-shirt – my only dilemma was choosing which one! After much deliberation I went for red, although I’ll probably buy another one soon.
The T-shirt is really good quality and feels so soft. I bought the size small for a fitted look and it’s just right. The pink and red cheetah gave me the idea of pairing the T-shirt with these pink culottes. As an homage to Lou I chose trainers instead of sandals. I added a bumbag to match the Luna Amani cuff that I also bought on Saturday.
In other news, we are busily preparing to go to Spain. Sorting out Covid tests and all the paperwork is a nightmare! It’s my birthday tomorrow but I’m sure I won’t be doing much relaxing! I’m hoping to post a birthday bloopers post tomorrow and finish my washing and packing. I haven’t been abroad for almost two years – I don’t know if I’m excited, nervous or both!
