Stylist Red Contest Outfit

Stylist Red Contest Outfit, Oak leather top and Oasis red trousers

I’m pushing myself out of my comfort zone today; Stylist magazine recently ran a competition with Ford Fiesta to find a budding fashion stylist. The entry requirements were simple: put together an outfit – including something red – and upload it to Instagram with #FiestaStylista in the image caption. Well, as red is my favourite colour I had to give it a shot! I didn’t think I’d have a hope in hell but you gotta try, right?

I’ve had these red trousers for a couple of years and they’ve become firm favourites.

I wanted a bold look for my Stylist Red Contest Outfit, so I paired this leather and suede top from Oak (which I bought recently in the Outnet sale) with bright red trousers. I have to admit, the top is not the easiest item of clothing to style; it’s a batwing style so can look quite bulky, particularly in leather.

I will probably get the most use out of it by wearing it as an alternative to a jacket with a vest top underneath beacause it’s quite warm. I’ve had these red trousers for a couple of years and they’ve become firm favourites. For good measure, I added a couple of red accents with my Angel Jackson bag and an enamel ring. The pop art-inspired bag incorporates clashing primary colours. A pair of black killer heels by Aperlai finished off my Stylist red contest outfit!

Thank you Gemma! It’s good to try wearing different styles sometimes, even if it doesn’t turn out as well as expected it’s still fun experimenting 🙂
