Sunset Shades – August’s Style Not Age

Well, it’s been a gorgeous sunny bank holiday, and even though I was working, I did get out for a walk around the shops in Birmingham at lunchtime. I stopped to admire the fantastic mural of Black Sabbath on Navigation Street. I didn’t take any photos because of the traffic, but you can see it here.

It was my turn to choose a theme for August’s Style Not Age challenge, and as we’re nearing the end of summer I decided on Sunset Shades. I didn’t really know what I was going to wear, only that it would feature orange of some description. In the end, I went for full on tangerine with a hint of burgundy. The funny thing is, I’ve been looking for these trousers for about three years; I’ve rummaged through every case and vacuum bag I could get my hands on but to no avail. Then, when I was searching for a black lace dress to wear for mum’s funeral, I found them…in the loft! I’m sure I’d already looked there too. I never did find the dress though – I’ll probably find it when I’m looking for something else!

This top was in the same bag, so I thought I’d go for a tonal orange look. It’s not the nicest fabric but I love the colour and the puff sleeves. When I bought it, I was hoping washing it would soften it up and make it less itchy, but it didn’t make much difference. The bag is an old eBay purchase and the sandals are a few years old now. Gold jewellery completed the look.
