It really feels like Autumn is just around the corner now with the evenings drawing in. The main consolation of Summer nearing its end is the sales. Although there’s a lot of tat on the rails, if you have the patience to trawl through them it can pay off. I bought these pink culottes at Marks & Spencer along with the sunshine yellow dress. They were both roughly half price which I was quite happy with…until I went into another M&S store a couple of weeks later and saw the dress reduced to £4.99 and the culottes to £8.49! Don’t you just hate it when that happens? But then I consoled myself with the fact that if I hadn’t bought them when I did I wouldn’t have had them to take to Brittany.
I packed these pink culottes and cold shoulder top because I knew the proportions would work together
Sales frustrations aside, I love these culottes and I know I’ll get plenty of wear from them. The quality is fantastic and they feel much more expensive than even the full price. They make a great alternative to a midi skirt, especially on a breezy day. We took these photos in the ruins of the old church at the end of my dad’s field, which makes a nice change from my back garden. I love doing outfit photos on holiday, but it does require a bit of planning. I packed these pink culottes and cold shoulder top because I knew the proportions would work together (I’ve also worn the top with my metallic culottes).
I’ve had this top for years, in fact I think I bought it from a Freemans catalogue – that’s going back some! After going out of fashion I stored it away in a suitcase in the loft, but now the cold shoulder trend is back with a vegence and its time has come again! It’s great for taking on holiday because it’s light and doesn’t crease. Plus it goes with almost everything. I added some gold accents with my jewellery and wedge espadrilles, which are also holiday wardrobe go-tos.
As soon as I spotted the bag my heart skipped a beat, especially when I saw it was on sale!
The bag was a holiday treat which I bought on a shopping trip to Paimpol, a lovely little town a short drive from my dad’s. I also bought the jacket I wore in last week’s link up post that afternoon. As soon as I spotted the bag my heart skipped a beat, especially when I saw it was on sale! It cost 44 euros with the discount, which I thought was a bargain. All in all that was a very satisfying shopping trip 🙂
Do you like to shop the sales early? Or do you wait until the end for big discounts and risk your favourites being sold out? If you have a strategy please do share it! Now it’s time to link up 🙂
