I’m loving culottes right now and have unashamedly purchased several pairs in recent months. They might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but on warm days when it’s too breezy for a skirt they’re my go-to. Pairing up these metallic culottes and cold shoulder top ticks off two major trends (who’d have thought the cold shoulder trend would stick around so long?) while looking dressy enough for a night out.
I bought these culottes from Zara while I was in Abu Dhabi a few months ago. It was unexpectedly breezy meaning the skirts I’d packed had to stay in the case. Wherever I am in the world I manage to sniff out a Zara store and make a cheeky purchase. I often have to size up with Zara but these are a small. The medium looked too voluminous so I bought the small without trying them on. They are plenty big enough through the legs, but the waistband isn’t very stretchy so getting them over my hips is a squeeze. The khaki metallic tone of the culottes pairs so well with black, but for a casual look I’d pair them with a crisp white shirt and pumps.
I’ve had this split sleeve top for ages – probably fifteen years. Little did I know when I bought it that it’d be bang on trend all these years later! The triple strand necklace, which I bought in a charity shop, is one of my most worn pieces of jewellery. It has an elongating effect when worn over a high neck top, and it’s long enough to just throw on without having to use the clasp…perfect for when I’m in a rush!
I’ve fessed up before about buying clothes and shoes, then forgetting all about them. Well these shoes are another example of my shameful behaviour. I’d completely forgotten about them until I saw Greetje (No Fear of Fashion) wearing some just like them with funky socks and looking amazing! I’m yet to try ankle socks with shoes but Greetje’s outfit has sold the idea to me. High cut shoes are making something of a comeback so I can feel doubly smug about my hoarding tendencies having kept hold of the top and shoes all these years!

Love the metallic! This is such a chic look! I don’t think I could pull off a pair of culottes but they look so great on you!

Culottes really suit you, as does hoarding if you can magic up cold shoulder tops and on-trend shoes. I often forget about things I’ve hardly ever worn. I was pleasantly surprised to be reunited with a pair of jeans I’d forgotten about!
I’m loving your outfit Emma! I haven’t worn culottes in many years, I think I should invest in me some because you are rocking yours 🙂 I love your top also:) Thanks for sharing and hosting hon 🙂

Thanks Suzy! The handbag has a detachable front flap so you can change it for another one…genius or what?!
This is one of my favorite outfits on you! I am a little afraid to try culottes, I don’t know why… I’m afraid they won’t be flattering on me I guess. You are rocking them here, though and I love that olive color and that top paired with them!
