I haven’t done a beauty post for a while now, but I’ve been busy testing out lots of fabulous products which I can give you the low down on now. It was my intention to publish this post last Sunday, but it would have meant three link up posts in a row. Also I was having some major laptop problems, which I mentioned in my last post. Thanks to Pete spending an afternoon sorting it out things are running a lot more smoothly and quickly 🙂
There was no doubt about the Naturaline Swiss Cosmetics Alpine Rose Day Cream and Peppermint Bamboo body lotion making my February beauty favourites list. Everything in their extensive range (including products for children and babies) are vegan and free from synthetic perfumes, colorants, mineral-oil based ingredients and silicones. All of the products carry the Ecocert®Natural Cosmetics Quality Label; one of the most vital criterias of the certification are sustainable ingredients that are produced in a environmentally friendly process. At least 95% of all ingredients must have natural origin.
In addition to this the company has pledged to:
The Alpine Rose Day Cream was an absolute delight to use – I say was because I’ve just finished it. Costing £13.49 I think this day cream is fantastic value for money. It made my skin feel really smooth, soft and hydrated. The subtle fragrance is lovely, I adore the delicate scent of rose. It lasted well too – I think I first started using it just after Christmas.
The Peppermint Bamboo body lotion is a simple, natural moisturiser that is ideal for sensitive skin. It sinks in easily with no hint of greasiness. Great for when you need to shower, moisturise and dress in a hurry…which in my case is most of the time! It costs £8.99 for 180ml. The Naturaline Swiss Cosmetics range is available at All Cures in the UK.
Now, strictly speaking, you might not consider a candle to be a beauty product, but Newshome organic vegan candles are no ordinary candles. These hand-poured, organic vegan candles are lovingly created in their West Yorkshire studio. Each candle is made from simple and natural ingredients – 100% soy wax and a blend of pure essential oils. Soy wax lasts for around 30% – 50% longer than the traditional paraffin candle, making them safer and better value for money. (The synthetic ingredients used in many commercial candles can be harmful to both human health and the environment.) Newshome have a huge range of fragrances, categorised by fresh, fruit, floral and spice. I chose lemongrass, lime and ginger because I was craving something fresh and energising for Spring.
Now, I have to admit that I’m not really a candle person – if there is such a thing. I’m not one to have a candle lit bath worthy of an Instagram post. Usually when I have a bath I have to share it with Isobel (yes, even though she’s now nine!) along with various pieces of plastic tat. Also, growing up in a thatched cottage, candles were considered fire hazards, so we only used them during power cuts (which I found very exciting!). Consequently, candles have to be rather special for me to get excited about them.
The natural ingredients in these lovely hand-poured candles put them in a completely different league to the mass produced options, which often cost the same, if not more. Newshome offer a range of sizes, costing from £12.99-£22.99, so very reasonably priced. Perfect for either treating yourself or to buy as a gift 🙂
I’ve certainly had my hair woes lately (me and my straighteners are definitely not on speaking terms) but this fab little brush is a joy to use. But it’s not just a brush…it also features a mirror and a secret compartment! Needless to say, a certain little lady was all heart eye emojis when she saw it! We’re now enjoying “shared ownership” of the Hair Podz Diamond Brush 😉
The Hair Podz Diamond brush is so handy to pop in your handbag for styling on the go. It has been ergonomically designed to fit into the palm of your hand, making it really easy to grip. Featuring triple flexology bristles, the three different lengths glide through hair to de-tangled it effortlessly. The really great design feature is the swivel action on the brush meaning it can be lifted up and pivoted around to reveal a diamond-shaped compact mirror…with storage inside for clips and ties. Isn’t that clever? Oh, and it has a Swarovski crystal for a little bit of bling. The Diamond Brush is available from Hair Secretz in several colour options for £9.99. Perfect for little girls and grown ups 🙂
Disclaimer: I was gifted the products featured in this post. All words and opinions are my own and completely honest.
I love trying new skin care and beauty products, I just hate paying for them! Hahahaha. These look like some fabulous products. The hair pod brush is right up my alley. I could definitely use on of those!

The candles and the skin/bodycare products sound right up my street! I’m off to look those up. It is great to see more and more clean and ethical brands popping up and doing well! xx
I love candles, but stopped burning them because of the soot. Now the only kind I will burn are soy. Lemongrass is such a yummy Summer fragrance. It always reminds me of my trip to a tropical island as they burned lemongrass candles in their spa and it was such a beautiful smell…it always takes me back!

Hi Emma!
Love the sound of the candle! I love candles as I take a bath each day and love to light some around the bath. Love hearing about the products you enjoy! Lately, I have been loving my Anastasia Brow definer pencil and love it- and they have it in Auburn, which is closer than any other.
