How to wear neon for a smart casual look, black and white The Kooples jacket, New Look meon pink rollneck jumper

Well this post has been a labour of love (she says through gritted teeth). My laptop is grinding to a halt under the constant usage so that now even simple things take ages. And as for Photoshop…forget it! It now takes so long to make basic changes to a photo such as cropping and adjusting lighting that I can go and do something else while I wait. Time for some serious maintenance work I think. On top of that the dishwasher has broken. But at least I can occupy myself by washing up while I’m waiting for the laptop to do its thing 😉

A bright rollneck sweater is a great option for early Spring because it gives you a colour hit while keeping you warm.

When I chose the neon theme for the latest Match Made in Seven post I bought the same jumper in yellow and pink. I couldn’t make up my mind which colour I preferred, and as they were on sale I decided to keep both. When we took these photos the light was really tricky to shoot in because it kept changing, but I think you can see the true colour of this pink jumper. …for a smart casual look that’s office-appropriate, you can’t go far wrong with a good quality jacket over a rollneck jumper.

Of all the neon hues, pink is probably the easiest to wear. I think this shade could easily pass as hot pink, but New Look have decided it’s neon, and I’m not going to argue! I’ve teamed it with a black and white The Kooples jacket that I bought on eBay a few months ago. I think it cost around £20, but would have been far more than that new. If you’ve been wondering how to wear neon for a smart casual look that’s office-appropriate, you can’t go far wrong with a good quality jacket over a rollneck jumper.

You could easily swap the black jeans for tailored trousers, and the glitter boots for black court shoes. I see nothing wrong with a smattering of glitter for daytime, whether it’s for work or play, but I appreciate that sparkly boots might not be suitable for all occupations! Ditto the coated skinny jeans. But making those substitutions is easy, and good to bare in mind for a quick day to night switch. The pink tote bag adds another fun element, but a black one would work just as well. You know me…I can’t resist adding those little touches of “extra” to an outfit 🙂

  1. Loving his rock influenced look my friend! Those shinny pink booties are fierce and the snakeskin jacket looks fab! The bright pin lightens the look and looks great with your skin tone! Tell me about it, thank God I have a tech hubby as my Lightroom can drive me bonkers! It can be so slow at times.

Emma, now this is totally a wearable neon outfit! I love the pink against that jacket. And the booties and bag add the final pop of pink neon! Nice! Sorry about your computer–that is SUCH a hassle. I don’t know how to use photoshop but have good luck with Lightroom for lighting and cropping. It’s also an Adobe product.

  13. I just hate it when the laptop isn’t cooperating. The keyboard in mine is having issues and the space bar isn’t registering sometimes… so I keep having to go back and put spaces in between some of the words. We’re looking for a new one and it can’t get here soon enough.

I think that neons are not easy to wear, but you did it superb. Such a big trend now.

  16. Love the neon pink and those boots are wow! If there is any neon colour that I’ll be introducing into my wardrobe it’ll be this pink. love it. I too have been having problems with my laptop this week – it’s the second time the mousepad has stopped working – it’s so frustrating! and can be costly to get fixed.
