Pastel spring jewellery

Spring might not quite be here yet but that doesn’t mean you can’t plan ahead, and so I’ve been busying myself with making some new jewellery in pastel colours. I’m a total magpie and I have boxes of costume jewellery – everything from feathers to spikes…I love it all. Even though I do buy quite a lot of jewellery, nothing beats wearing pieces I’ve made myself.

It’s so easy to make a simple beaded bracelet, which is a great starting point if you do want to make your own jewellery.

It’s so easy to make a simple beaded bracelet, which is a great starting point if you do want to make your own jewellery. You just need beads and some nylon stretch cord (I prefer Opelon which you can buy from Ebay and most bead shops). If you’ve got a pair of scissors and can tie a knot then you’re good to go! I may do a tutorial on the blog in the near future so watch this space!

The earrings were an upcycle job using a pair of plastic hoops that were from a very old set belonging to my mum. I think they came with interchangeable hoops of various colours which you could attach to a clip-on earring. Very 70s! Anyway, they’d been kicking about in my bead box for years so I finally decided to do something with them. All that was required was a little bit of wire work and they have a new lease of life!

Thank you Cindy! I love to make my own jewellery – it’s very satisfying wearing something unique which I’ve put a lot of time and effort into. I used to go to classes to make silver jewellery but I’ve let it slip over the last few years. I should really get back into it!
