Since the weather turned cold I’ve been living in trousers of some description or another. It was time to mix things up a bit. Luckily this StyleWe midi skirt arrived just in time to shake me out of my style rut. I ordered a red top to go with it but it was too cold to wear it when we took these photos. I really couldn’t face standing outside in short sleeves so I’ll save it for another day. Instead I paired the skirt with a sweater that I bought at TKMaxx recently. I’d been needing a black turtle neck sweater for ages and found the perfect one almost as soon as I walked in the shop. I didn’t even bother trying it on, I just knew it’d fit and feel right.
The body-hugging fit of the sweater combined with the flare of the skirt creates a defined silhouette. I do love a flared midi skirt – they are so flattering and elegant- and you can wear them all year round. In Summer I like to wear them with a fitted T-shirt and court shoes; while during the colder months a pair of black tights and ankle boots combined with a sleek sweater transforms the midi skirt into a Winter wardrobe staple. I love the print of this skirt too – red, white and black is one of my favourite colour combinations. It also gave me an excuse to use my funky Zara bag again.
Now we’re experiencing some really cold weather I’m trying to be creative and Winter-proof my wardrobe with some clever layering. I don’t want to spend the next four months wearing only trousers and jumpers!

I love skirts like that, when its colder I wear 50/60denier tights and a cardigan with them! I love to see the skirt with the red top!
Thanks Nancy! Yes, tights are very much a necessity at the moment!

This skirt is indeed perfect. Red, white and black is one of my favourite combinations too. And how well does that fun bag combine with this skirt! They were made for each other.
To answer your question, I hardly ever use clothes of one season in another season. The fuchsia Hope poncho which I love, is the first item I used in summer and winter.

That bag goes with so many outfits – I’m going to buy another detachable flap so I can change it up a bit. The Hope poncho is amazing, I love mine 🙂
