I feel like I’ve taken my foot off the gas with the blog and social media recently. It’s down to a combination of things, although a lack of motivation has been a big factor. I think all bloggers go through periods like this from time to time; when you do something for a number of years it’s just the natural ebb and flow of enthusiasm. I’ve also been struggling with tiredness lately…me and the cat have taken a lot of naps together! But that’s not necessarily a bad thing 😉
I’m trying to implement some tips from Lizzie on blogging more efficiently by scheduling time for writing, emails and link ups. It’s very early days yet but hopefully this will boost my productivity (although I’ll never be as disciplined as Lizzie!).
Today’s outfit is a mixture of new and old. I bought the silver cropped trousers at the same time as the black sweater featured in last week’s post. They are both from Outline, a brand that’s new to me. I purchased them both from an online discount site (I think it was Brand Alley but can’t be sure). When trying a new brand it’s always a bit of a gamble, but I’m really impressed with the quality of both items. Outline is a London-based brand that creates modern tailored pieces, evening wear and off-duty separates. The price point isn’t exactly budget, but you can snag a great bargain in the sales. These silver trousers are on sale on Outline’s website for about the same price I paid. They are also available in black.
These silver trousers are made of quite stiff fabric, which gives them a more formal feel. They’d be good to wear for the office as well as dressing up for evening. I’ve opted for a look that’s somewhere in between daytime and evening with the hot pink blouse and sandals. After wearing predominantly black for my last two posts I really needed some colour! The bright pink contrasts perfectly with the silver trousers; adding a third colour would have diluted the effect so I added silver sandals and jewellery to keep it simple. The dark grey bag compliments the silver without detracting from the overall two-colour look. The flowers on the handbag strap add the tiniest amount of purple, pink and red.
I plan on wearing these trousers with a crisp white shirt or fine knit sweater for a simple daytime look, and also with a black camisole and sandals for evening – maybe with a cropped boxy jacket. I’m trying to only buy great quality items of clothing that I can wear multiple ways now. I’m so over fast fashion.

I definitely go through periods when I don’t feel inspired, and when working on the blog feels like a chore. It’s totally normal—such is the creative spirit. Love your bright pink top though!

I’ve always loved the combination of silver and pink, and i love how you added the extra colour of orange with your nails and ring!
Emma, I love this outfit! I think the trousers would look great with some sparkly sock booties in the winter, too! And hot pink is so good on you. I have been struggling with motivation for my blog as well and tiredness seems to be my normal state of existence lately. So I feel your struggle. We must just take it all one day at a time. And like you said, it is an ebb and flow and our motivation and energy will return!

How crisp, elegant and beautiful are those silver pants, Emma. Looking sharp with the neon pink top. Love the bag, sandals and that amethyst-brownish ring, too. =) Also, I feel you about slacking on the blog. I am not disciplined at all. A last-minute person for sure!
