Party Season Ready in Sequins and Faux Fur + Style With a Smile Link Up

Festive party season is in full swing and that means getting dressed up! My ideal party outfit involves sparkle, whether it’s sequins, glitter or lamé, it has to be shiny. That doesn’t mean I’m prepared to compromise on comfort though. This burgundy velvet sequin two piece* from Very.co.uk fits the bill perfectly. It’s in the colour of the season, it’s sparkly, and it’s incredibly comfortable. It really does tick all the boxes. Sometimes sequins can feel scratchy, which puts me off wearing them. No such problem with this top and trousers. They are lined and the sequins are not packed too tightly together so they lie flat when sitting down.

I wanted to put the office-to-party transition to the test, so I wore the trousers to work with a green frill blouse and gold trainers. In about five minutes, I changed tops, shoes and bag for a super quick day-to-night transformation. I did a ten-hour shift in these trousers so I can confirm that they are supremely comfortable.

If you prefer something more classic to sequins, you can’t go wrong with a black midi dress. Textures such as velvet, satin and lace add interest. Plus you can use contrasting accessories in metallics or a bright colour to really bring it to life.

Of course, if you’re heading out on the town, chances are you’ll need to contend with inclement weather. Rather than a coat being an afterthought, something thrown on hastily as you head out the door, make it an integral part of the look. A faux fur coat oozes luxury while keeping you warm at the same time. A classic shade like brown, black or cream will work with just about any outfit. Alternatively, a bright hue or animal print will add a playful, fun element. I absolutely adore this long brown faux fur coat. It arrived last week and I’ve worn it three times already! So many people have commented on it – someone even asked me if it was real fur!

If you’re going to be dancing, a mid to low heel is essential (well it certainly is for me!). Having aching feet at the end of the night is miserable – trust me, I’ve been there many times! I’ve chose a pair of Nine West open toe shoes that I’ve had for years. The mix of pink, purple and grey compliment the burgundy two-piece. Gold or silver would also be great options. I’ve incorporated both colour and metallics with the chain handle Kurt Geiger bag. It’s big enough to hold all the party essentials without overwhelming the outfit.

I’ve finally nailed the desk-to-bar transition with a speedy five minute change: now I’m party season ready in sequins and faux fur…while staying comfortable and warm!
