I have to admit that it feels a bit weird to be wearing “holiday” clothes at home, not that I’m complaining of course! I bought this Summer maxi dress from a little shop in Glenelg, Adelaide when we were there to watch the Ashes test match back in 2010, and with the Ashes starting this week on home soil it seemed appropriate to dig it out of the suitcase of summer clothes.
With the dress sorted I just had to tame my hair as the heat makes it quite unmanageable. I’ve always wanted to try a topknot but didn’t really know how to go about it for layered hair; so of course there was only one thing to do – watch a tutorial on Youtube! I managed to find a few kirby grips lurking in handbags and after a bit of a tussle I got it to stay put.
I don’t often wear earrings – mainly because they tend to get lost in my hair. Also, I find most of them a bit uncomfortable, particularly if they are heavy. When it comes to jewellery I usually prefer a statement necklace or ring, but a hair up day just begs for a pair of chandelier earrings like these ones from Accessorize.
These flat nude sandals are from the JLo range at Asos. They’re great for taking on holiday because they go with everything. Plus they take up very little room in my suitcase. A pair of nude sandals are the perfect accompaniment to a Summer maxi dress!
