As I contemplate what to wear on Christmas Day, I’ve been looking back at my festive outfits over the last few years. It might be a bit of a fashion cliché, but sequins and glitter always seem to feature in some form or another. They offer so much scope, whether you want to dress up or down. I prefer to keep it on the casual side because I spend Christmas Day at home. There’s not much point in getting done up to the nines just to build lego and lounge on the sofa! However, I do still like to make an effort…it is a special day after all. I’ve selected these outfits to show you three ways to sparkle this Christmas…and still be comfortable!
Boyfriend jeans and a plain black top is a very basic combination, but layer a sequin jacket over it and suddenly it looks much more special. I added a pearl and ribbon necklace, sparkly ring and heels to make it a little more elegant, but velvet or metallic flats would also look great.
A cosy rollneck sweater is a Winter wardrobe staple for me, and I have them in several colours. Instead of blue denim, I teamed this pink jumper with black faux leather skinny jeans and pink glitter boots. I topped it off with a bright pink blazer for contrast.
This look’s a little more dressy than the other two, making it ideal for a slightly more formal occasion. I didn’t end up keeping this skirt because it was too loose around the waist, but I did buy a replacement which is very similar. Actually, I ended up buying one in black and burgundy too! Thanks to the stretch fabric of a lot of sequin skirts they are very comfortable, even if you’re sitting all day. I chose a fine knit jumper with sheer sleeves and a pussy bow to wear with it. Delicate knits can catch on sequins so I’d advise against pairing them with cashmere. A cotton blend is a safer option.
So those are my three ways to sparkle this Christmas…which one is your favourite? As Christmas Day falls on a Tuesday the Style With a Smile link up will be on Wednesday this week instead. And I have a quick favour to ask…voting for the UK Blog Awards ends at midday on Christmas Eve…if you could spare a moment to vote for me (I’m nominated in both the fashion and beauty categories) I’d be so grateful 🙂

Lovely outfits! I love that black bag! And your sparkling booties! Merry Christmas Emma!
Thanks so much Nancy! Hope you had a wonderful Christmas!
Emma, I love all the sparkle and shine especially for the holidays! It really does put one in the Christmas spirit, doesn’t it? While I adore all three outfits you have shared, you know that boots are my thing, so I have to go with the sparkly boots outfit! And the pink sparkles are just too darn cute! Wishing you and your family a very merry Christmas!

Merry Sparkling Christmas, three great looks. Love all the sequins and sparkles. Hoping you had a fabulous Christmas
You always look elegant even when you say you’re dressing something down! I think you need to go to at least three holiday parties just so you can wear ALL these outfits again! My personal favorite is the black sequin jacket over the boyfriend jeans…cuz, jeans. Ha.
Happy Holidays, Emma!
