This casual festive outfit came about by accident really, but I’m really happy with how it turned out. You see, when Damart offered me an item to review I chose this jumper but in red. However, there was a bit of a mix up with the link I sent over and I received this nude pink version instead. But I’m actually really pleased because it’s such a flattering shade. It’s cashmere so it feels as soft as it looks…it feels heavenly next to the skin.
By pure fluke I had this bright pink jacket laid out on the bed. I ordered it from Debenhams in the Black Friday sale but I wasn’t sure if I liked the fit. When I put the jumper next to it I realised they’d look great together. With the addition of the boots and a rose quartz bracelet I’ve combined four shades of pink with a sprinkle of glitter for a casual festive outfit.
Pink might not be an obvious choice for a Christmas outfit but it makes an equally colourful and cheery alternative to red. Plus, this gorgeous cashmere turtleneck jumper will be a great addition to my Spring wardrobe when we naturally move towards softer shades but still need the warmth. I plan on wearing it with my grey pleated skirt and velvet ankle boots. A festive outfit requires a sprinkle of glitter or sequins so my bargain boots from Asos were christened in the snow. I bought them for less than £20 – they are still on sale but currently marked down to £30 (from £45). The price seems to fluctuate so keep an eye on them if you’re interested because it might drop again.

I’ve got to admit that I’m always in a dilemma when wearing skinny jeans and ankle boots. There seems to be a rule that you should cuff your jeans (rather than tuck them in). That’s all fine with plain denim, but a bit trickier with coated leather-look jeans. At least to me, but then you all know what I think about fashion rules 😉 Coincidentally, the last time I wore these jeans on the blog I was explaining why I reject the idea of age-related fashion rules. In any case, after trying them different ways I decided I preferred them turned up. Nevertheless, if at any time in the future I want to wear skinny jeans tucked inside my ankle boots I certainly will. So there!
Rather than a big bag I chose my new Sakura crossbody bag that Jennifer Hamley kindly sent to me. You know how much I love my Model KT workbags (seen here, here and here) so I was delighted to add this to my collection. It also has a detachable wrist strap so you can wear it two ways. It’s big enough to hold the essentials – phone, cards, keys – so it would be perfect for parties when you don’t want to dance around your handbag! Do you remember doing that? 🙂

I say pooey to the rules as well, and never quite know what to do with the ankle boots with a skinny jean… those booties are so fun and festive too, and your bag is lovely.
