You’ve seen a few of my holiday outfits now, but often the biggest dilemma I face when going on holiday is not what to wear when I’m there, but what to travel in. I want to be comfortable when I’m going to be spending hours sitting in the car and on a plane, but I also want to look stylish.
You often see people after the return journey, waiting by the luggage carousel in shorts and flip flops when it’s freezing cold outside the terminal. I hate being cold so you’ll never catch me doing that! But equally, I don’t like feeling hot and sweaty when I arrive. Getting my travelling outfit right requires lots of planning; the three things I keep in mind are comfort, colour co-ordination and layering. My Hope pink poncho goes everywhere with me, and comes in very handy on flights.
It helped that we did the bulk of travelling in the evenings. Plus, the temperature in Turkey wasn’t really hot like the Caribbean, but I did carry a T-shirt in my cabin trolley just in case. Although the jumper has a high neck, it is a lightweight knit, so I knew I wouldn’t get too hot in it. I bought it recently from the Outnet when there was a sale on. It’s from the in-house label Iris & Ink, and it was reduced to less than half price, plus I got extra discount which made it under £40.
Stretchy trousers are a must for me when travelling, and these coated skinny jeans are surprisingly comfortable. They are perfect for dressing up with heels (as I did here) or wearing casually with trainers. Since I started having problems with my feet I’ve been wearing trainers on a daily basis. Having a dressier option like these gold ones allows me to feel comfortable and stylish. I found them in TKMaxx when I popped in to buy some replacement black cat eye sunglasses (and also bought these square oversized ones). Strictly speaking, I don’t need any more footwear (or sunglasses!) but I couldn’t resist these; I know I’ll get lots of wear from them. Trainers might be a necessity for me now but that definitely doesn’t mean sacrificing style!

I usually have A SIMILAR STRATEGY EMMA! COMFORTABLE JEANS OR TROUSERS WITH A LOOSE JUMPER, CASHMERE PONCHO AND FLAT SHOES IS NORMALLY MY GO-TO. IF IT’S SUMMER, A JACKET REPLACES THE PONCHO, ALTHOUGH I USUALLY TAKE ONE ANYWAY BECAUSE PLANES ARE OFTEN SO COLD!
Wow! I love everything about this outfit. you rock it girl!

I like the fringe detailing on the jacket. A travel outfit really needs a little extra thought when you’re going to be cooped up on an aeroplane xx
I’m all about layering when I travel too. You never know if the plane or airport are going to be stifling hot or freezing cold. I sometimes even pack different bottoms or tops in my carry on just in case!
I love your blazer!!

Emma, that’s the perfect outfit for traveling! I usually wear black and white, too, as that’s so easy. ANd sneakers–or trainers, as you say!–are definitely required!I always wear my ecco slip-ons as they are super comfortable!

Emma, I’m on love with your travel OUTFIT!!! I need to be comfortable when I travel too so I always wear jeans that have a bit of stretch to them. And because i’m usually travelling in winter, it’s knee high boots (typically my favourite Timberlands because they’s like slippers). Otherwise, I’d DEFINITELY wear trainers. These gold sparkly ones are divine. I’m on the look out for some blingy trainers at the moment too. Shame we haven’t got TKMaxx over here!!
