Welcome to May’s Stylish Monday link up! I hope you all had a fabulous weekend. It’s a Bank Holiday in the UK which means a long weekend 🙂 We’re off to a cat cafe in Manchester later which I’m really looking forward to! Isobel has been wanting to go for ages (and so have I!) so watch out for cute kitty pics on my Instagram!
The weather has turned decidely cooler than when we shot these photos. When the group chose the theme “Spring Into Florals” I had ideas of wearing a dress or maybe a floral print jacket. But instead I made the most of the nice weather by pairing this red one shoulder top with a poppy print maxi skirt.
When I think of Spring florals, pastel shades usually come to mind, but I couldn’t find anything in my wardrobe that grabbed me. This maxi skirt from Chicwish has been sitting there waiting to be worn for years. I was totally won over by it by when I saw it on the website, but in reality it’s not that easy to style. This is not the kind of skirt you wear every day…it’s so voluminous it could double as a parachute!
It needs a very fitted top to balance out the proportions, so a vest or wrap top works best. I’ve had this red one shoulder top for years – it’s so old I can’t even remember where I got it from. I’ve worn it with a blue gingham and floral print skirt before. I kept the colour palette simple with my Zara multiway bag (it also comes with a belt to wear it as a bumbag) and espadrilles I picked up recently from the Next outlet for £9! Tassel earrings and a macrame bracelet finished off the look.

Hi Emma. What a fantastic skirt. I love poppies and they get all the attention they deserve here. I am afraid it would not be the best of skirts for me (i am very, very petite and cycle to work – imagine doing so in such a skirt) but i love it. i also love matching colours, so you can imagine how i love the way you have added reds to compliment the white skirt. have a warmer and sunnier week! Love, lieske
You look stunning! that poofy poppy skirt is amazing! and i’m dying for those ornage espadrilles, so cute!
