Culottes seem to be everywhere at the moment – open any glossy magazine and I guarantee you’ll find some, and yet they can be a tricky trouser shape to pull off. The shorter, fuller culottes are not really for me (although I never say never!) but a longer ankle-skimming pair can work for most body shapes and look elegant too. A simple top with clean lines works best with a wide leg trouser – minimalism is the key to carrying off this season’s trouser shape.
I tried several tops on for this outfit but in the end I decided that the white Asos lace tee and culottes work well together to create a fresh and summery look. If you’re worried about your legs looking too short in culottes, shoes that add height will counter that effect.
I decided to wear my new flatform sandals from Clarks…they add a little bit of height but are also really comfortable. My basic rule is to match the style of shoes to the cut of the trousers: wedges or flatforms for wide legged trousers, court shoes or sandals for a slim cut trouser. Flatforms are great for my my legs look longer but I find I slap my feet down when I walk in them!
I chose a white bag and chunky bracelet to keep the look fresh and simple.

I first wore these trousers on the blog almost three years ago to the day…you can see that post here!
A fellow culottes lover! They’re just SO comfortable, right? 🙂
I love your bracelet! I host a fashion link up every week and it would be great if you could stop by and add a link 🙂
Yes they’re perfect for Summer Tara!

A cropped wide-leg capri-length pant is not my friend. I’m still hooked on stretchy skinny leggings paired with a tunic. You look great in yours! Thanks for linking!
Thank you Anne! So pleased to find your blog through the link ups 🙂
