As we move out of Summer and into Autumn it’s time to reflect on all the lovely things about the passing season. The sunflowers in our garden have to be one of the highlights of my summer. Yellow is such a happy colour, yet I avoided wearing it for so long because I thought it looked hideous on me. That was until I became a redhead. Something so simple as a change of hair colour made all the difference and it’s now one of my favourite hues.
I don’t think it’s possible to feel grumpy when you’re wearing yellow, especially when the sun is shining 🙂 Wearing black and bright yellow amongst the sunflowers makes me think of bumble bees, and how much they love these big, cheery flowers. A black bag would have been too heavy for this outfit – particularly for Summer – so I’m doubling up on the yellow with this roomy leather bag. I may mix up this outfit a bit in future by wearing some brightly coloured shoes…I’m thinking maybe turquoise or teal would be a fun option. My hair’s hiding my earrings but they have turquoise stones in them which pop nicely against the black and yellow.
The sunflowers have grown so tall; the previous owners of the house planted them before they moved out…I bet they wished they could have taken these beauties with them!
