Until recently, I couldn’t have worn a bright green coat with red accessories. This colour combination just seemed too Christmassy, which in my mind was bad enough at Christmas. But wearing it just after Christmas was unthinkable. You might be wondering then what brought about this change of heart…it had to be another blogger of course! When I saw Sharon of Best Before End Date rocking a green coat with red boots and tassel earrings it was a game changer.
I love bright green – not only is it a great colour for redheads, but it seems to have a calming, balancing effect on my mood. At this time of year I think it’s important to wear colour because the days are so dull and dreary. Setting my sights on adding a green coat to my collection I started browsing eBay, and found this one from M&S for about £20. It’s exactly the shade of green I wanted, and as it’s not too heavy I can wear it in Spring when I’ll team it with pastel shades.
As red is my favourite colour I had plenty of accessories to style the coat with. The Zara multiway bag has proved to be so useful – as a crossbody, belt bag and as a clutch. The coat is collarless so I picked out a fun scarf that my stepmother gave to me several years ago. I added the red hat out of necessity as much as for style because it was raining. A couple of beaded bracelets, a red stone ring and my red heart tassel earrings (from the-Bias-Cut.com) finished off the look.

I just wanted to say a massive thank you to everyone who voted for me in the UK Blog Awards! I really didn’t think I’d make it through to the finals, so it was a huge surprise to get the email telling me the good news! It was just what I needed to shake me out of the January blues, so thank you very much for your votes and all the kind messages on Facebook 🙂

Brilliant, Emma! I never would have dared to pair red and green together either until I started blogging. The more chances we take, the more fantastic combinations we discover! I do love bright red with olive green, but this bright green really works with red, too! I am loving this coat, by the way!

Thank you Nancy!
Yes, I’m a fan of red and green together. The red really shines in this outfit, my favorites: the bag and the scarf, such great textures, Emma.
Beautiful Emma, I love the bright green coat. I wear color in the winter too! I dont own a black or navy coat, as I need to get out of the winter doldrums too! The scarf is so cute, love the texture of it and how you paired these colors together. I have never tried red and green, but rather some of their sister colors-burgundy and olive…

I saw Sharon wearing that outfit too and loved it. I did try red and green ages ago, but did look like a Christmas tree, I think the fact you’ve broken yours up with the black skinnies makes it work. Well done on becoming a finalist Emma. Good luck for the next section. Jacqui Mummabstylish
Very kind of you, Jacqui. Emma does suit it doesn’t she? Sharon xo
Thanks Jacqui!
I adore colored coats. I’d totally pair that with hot pink accessories next.
This is one bold look. I like wearing color in the winter because here in Seattle it’s gray the whole season. Thanks for the linkup!

Typically I would avoid this color combo too but these bright shades are really working together! What a great deal on that coat!
The red bag looks much pretty with the green sweater. This can be cute gift ideas for women.
